I have the 9" '03 cobra wheels in the front and was wondering if a 265/40/17 tire would be too small for the rim... i ve heard 275/40/17 was best but if there would be slightly less rubbing when turning the wheel hard then it seems like a better deal... would this throw off my speedo and if so by how much.

what about 255/40/17 .?? would the side wall look more bulky (less low-profile look) than 275/40/17

On a 9 inch rim, the smallest tire I would run is a 265, if it was my choice, I'd be running a 275. 255 will look way too small and lead to problems if you ever get close to a curb.

275/40/17 is the correct size tire for that rim. Do not deviate, there is no need, if you alter that you will wind up with a goofy looking tire that is to narrow, such as a 245/45/17.... go to the wheel/tire article I wrote and read it. http://www.mustangevolution.com/arti...heelsandtires/

kumo 712s are pretty crappy tires... a 265 would work but its not the correct size, being on the front it wont be the end of the world. the side wall will be shorter thus making the car look even higher than it is now.
I would get yokahoma avs es100s, little bit more (129~ each) but FAR superior.
