i was told to put a hood scoop on and i thought it would be wierd to put 1 on a v6 and did some research and saw if you take the scoop off the 99-04 model v8s it has the same type hood as the v6 but doesnt have the plastic piece in in other words should i go head and get one or no?

I would get one for you car, it wouldn't be weird at all. They really add appearance-wise and make it more aggressive. Plus, you already have the hood, I had to get a new hood and scoop. The 01-04 hood scoop is the one to get. I think it looks better than the 99-00 hood scoop offered on the 35th anniversaries and Spring Editions.
You can install one on your stock hood. Iirc the 2000 hoods didn't have the studs marked on the underside of the hood though...so you'd have to measure and take your time installing the scoop.

I wrote that hood scoop how to linked above, if you have questions let me know.
If you have an 00 mustang its not as easy as it would be on an 01-04 but Ive done it on an 00 before and it can be done.

There might be some drilling involved on the xenon version of the scoop. the 3M tape that Xenon use's is actully very strong. Many companies like Xenon and Wings West use both the 3m tape and self tapping screws to secure their body kits to a car. Ive used and sold their products before in the past. Never had any issues.

the OEM 01-04 gt hood scoop will look best, if you take your time and do your measurments right its really easy. You just have to make a template and tape it off and then DRILL

I did that on my 2000. Personally I really like the new edge models with a hood scoop.
Since my '01 GT came with one my 2000 just looked goofy sitting there without one, like it was missing a major piece of the hood. It was a pretty simple fix
