predator vs sct tuner differences??

i bought a diablosport tuner when i got my 06gt in 2006...put in the 93 tune..runs good  ...i was wondering,will a sct tuner be any different?.is it worth buying? and replacing the predator tuner?? any gains? i'd appreciate all feedback..

From what I've read, there isn't much difference between the tuners if you use custom tunes for your car, such as those supplied by Bama Chips, Tillman Speed, Brenspeed, VMP Tuning, etc. As for canned tunes (the generic ones supplied by SCT and DiabloSports), I imagine they are different, but I have no specific knowledge of that. Doug at Bama Chips says his tunes work equally well on either tuner. I think the only real difference is the software that each handheld uses (i.e. like Word & Wordperfect); the end results are that each tuner remaps your PCM with the custom tune. Both also allow you to go back and change things like tire size, gear ratios, etc. as you do modifications. Talk to the folks I listed, and they can give you the specifics. Oh, the Predator needs a serial cable to download email tunes, and the SCT uses a USB cable. Serial cables are getting very hard to find, but most of the folks listed above sell one for the Diablo.

Although I do not have a tune I prefer SCT for some reason.
Probably your biggest concern when choosing between the two is where you will get your tunes from. More than likely you will want to use the same product which the man who tunes your car uses.

I have the SCT and think it's a good tuner. Most people say don't use a generic tune, have a custom tune installed. Then I would say the tuner is only as good as the speed shop you use.

i got mine from VMP tuning, Justin installed three custom tunes, i am very pleased with this product

a tuner is a tuner for the MOST part, the difference is the tune. if you just ordered the tune off the shelf not from a company that wrote the tune specifically for your car (and just used the tuner as a way to port the tune to your vehicle) then you are missing out.
You need to go with someone like bamachips.com you will see 25rwhp with a CAI and a tune from them~ much better than what you probably currently have. Its not just about peak either the entire power band is better.... and FYI any tuner that claims they give you better gas mileage... dont let them tune it since well... they wont.

Both tuners are nice, i have had the best luck with a SCT tunner, however that is not because of the tuner.
A tuner is like an empty computer, only thing you have to look at is how easy it is to load a program or edit a program. what you really need to look for is somone who is capable of using that tunner in the best way possible. for instance if you have an SCT tuner you want to find a shop that has a person who is SCT certified. If they are ceritifed they have more tools on the program and are able to get more detailed in the programing. Try to actually get to a human being who has a dyno and is certified. you will be much more satisfied. |

I got both of them. They pretty much are the same except the file format is different. The SCT gives you the trouble codes while the Diablo gives you the codes and the description of the code. I do find the SCT a little easier and faster to use (in my opinion). I guess it all depends what the tuners in your area use. In my case the Diablo came with my supercharger but I had the SCT from when I got my CAI way back when. Most of the tuners around here use the SCT software on their dynos so I'm pretty much stuck using the SCT..........................
