If you are going to tune a N/A car be sure to get a chip. Do not let them talk you into programming the EEC itself. I did and now i would have to go buy a chip to be able to run regular gas. Gasoline up here has Gone up $1.00 since Wednesday so I paid 3.39 for premium yet if I had been able to use a flip chip that I once had I could have bought gas at 2.98. Think about this before you go get a dyno tune. For me I am stuck using Premium unless I bought a chip and had it programmed or find a time when Jerry with SCT will be down my way.

Just keep this in mind

I have a single stage chip..tuned for 93. At least I can pull it out however and run 87 again. But...my bicycle is here now, gonna be riding that thing to school and work from now on.

Yeah, at this day in age there are a few options. SCT dealers out there have to use a chip or flasher to tune a car (and the handheld flasher stays with the car), they can't just reflash the EEC like jerry does.

The SCT multiposition chips that I sell hold up to 4 programs, and the X-calibrator2 flashers I sell hold up to 3 custom programs. These days I am giving everyone an 87 oct perf, 87 oct mpg, and 91-93 oct program.

Well I believe I'm gonna go pull my chip out tonight, no more premium in town for a few weeks.
But I'm wondering something, I have an egr delete, is this gonna cause any problems as far as my car running wrong?

It will just cause the CEL to come on.

Well the CEL will come on as soon as it is taken out lol. EGR delete, gas cap sensor is screwed up, and probably a few other things. I'm almost wondering though if it's gonna mess up my mileage more to take the chip out and have the stock computer go haywire. I really need to figure out if it's gonna hurt the car to run 87 with the chip in.

I am running a special on multiposition SCT chips right now, $269, free shipping, and a free pair of 3.8 emblems.

For the SCT X-cal2s USB flasher/datalogger the price is $399.

Both products include a custom VMP 87 oct perf tune, 91-93 oct perf tune, and 87 oct mileage tune. I am currently testing a tune that may show a 3-5MPG increase. I hope to put my 97 F150 truck in the low 20s for an average MPG (currently gets 17-19mpg). I also have a customer with a 01 V6 that is getting 27mpg right now with a "mild" MPG tune, hoping to hit over 30mpg with a prototype agressive MPG tune.
