Okay i've been doing some testing with this stuff. I've used it in 2 tanks of gas and am working on my 3rd. Now before I used it I was avg right around 17's. Since I first used it I got in my first tank and avg of 17.9 now that was after I had already driven 60-70 miles on that tank. Then on the last tank I had avg 19.9 with about 70 miles of that being highway the rest mostly around town with an avg speed of 50mph which put me at around 2k rpms. Now i'm working on my 3rd tank which so far I have almost 150 miles on the tank and im just past the 3/4 mark. 125 of those miles were all highway and I got the 125 before passing the 3/4 mark. Which normally I would only get 100 miles to the first 1/4 tank. So I avg about 270-285 a tank from full to gas light. I believe I will be seeing around 310-340 at this rate which should put me at an avg mpg of about 18.7-20.6 which will mostly be city travel after the 125 miles. I will update once I fill back up. So as of right now anyone who is suffering from crappy gas mileage I would buy this because I have seen very good improvements and it only cost around 2.69. So for anyone who thinks its the car getting bad mileage might wana reconsider that the gas we are buying isn't very good and should try this stuff!

You cannot make any sort of guess of mileage based on the fuel guage mark. They are notoriously non-linear.
I just filled my tank. 8.9 gallons for 230 miles traveled, about 90% highway. 25.8 mpg.
That leaves me with 5.2 gallons in the tank, at 25.8 mpg my range per tankful is 360 miles.
I use no additives in my gasoline and my average speed for those miles is 69 mph.

I can make a pretty close guess. I also go down to the gas light and fill up. I never throw 10 bucks here and there. My driving is the same day in and day out. I rarely ever excellerate hard. I run my truck to where it shifts at 2250rpms. Everything I do is steady. Only changes by little margins. I have NEVER gotten more then 100 miles to the first 1/4 tank. I've filled my truck up probably over 1,000 times since I got it if not more. So I know exactly how my truck works. So I have more then enough to be able to guesstimate how many miles to a tank I will get. I usally get about 150 miles to the first half. I have it almost down to exactly how many miles I get at each 1/4 mark. I get about 75-90avg to the first 1/4 150 almost all the time to the half tank and 230-240 to the last 1/2 tank mark EVERY time never fails. So that is good enough for me to be able to guess around how many miles I will avg that tank and about how many miles I will avg a gallon. My gas light comes on when I have exactly 3.5 gallons left on my tank. I fill up right at 16.5 every time because I hit the gas station as soon as the light is on. So again I will say that I have enough to be able to guess about how many miles I will avg.

My guage reads lower than it did when I bought it. I put 450 miles a week on it going to work and back (which is ONCE per week). When I started it would read exactly half a tank when I got to work. Now it reads 3/8 of a tank and it's still the same miles and same amount of gas used. While I don't have a problem with the tank reading lower than it is I sure don't base any reasonable mileage estimates on it.

I d doont really go by the gauge itself. It gives me a good idea of any improvements. However the way I get my actual mileage reading by taking the amount of miles on my trip(which I reset every tank btw) then I take that amount of miles and devide it by the gallons I fill up. So say I got 290 miles to the tank and I filled up 16.5 gallons I then devide 290 by 16.5 which gives me my total. I'm sure that is the same way you do it, but that is how I get my actual avg mile.

Ok, that's the method I use. I was thinking you were sayin I got 260 miles and the guage reads a half tank so....
Anyway, trucks suck for mileage, big barn doors. My 05 Ram gets maybe 18 highway.

are you sure its working or maybe you are just more cautious on how you drive your car? in times like these im thinking its a great idea if it works.

STP is a waste of money unless you have entrained water in the gas. It will help with water in gas. and it will clean injectors if you have been using really crappy gas but constant use is just a waste of money

Yes they do. Best I ever got so far is 20.5mpg highway. Last I got was 19.7 about 1/3 was highway rest was city.
I'm driving the same. I use to do pizza delivery and I had gotten myself use to driving in a way I wouldn't waste to much gas. I never let it go higher then 2250rpms. My driving is still like that. I dont feel the need to drive supper fast and since right now my truck is my dd untill the probe is on the road(which will be soon btw) so i'm taking it easy like always.
With the way gas is right now there will be more water in it. I've watched the last few loads come into my store and each one has had a little more water then the last. With all the damage done to the pipe lines coming from LA and MS. Anyway that is why i'm testing it on 3 tanks and not just 1 or 2 tanks of gas. I should be filling up around the first of next week which I will update. Now if I end up with more then 20 even then I know this stuff does work. Untill then i'm not going to put any big praise on the product, but so far I am very pleased with the results.

You've been watching the loads and there's more water in them? I wouldn't buy gas from those stations...

How do you watch a load and see water in it? Its just a big truck with a big hose that fills up the tanks.
Other than that, you should use Lucas fuel system treatment. Like corey said, no reason to use it more than just every oil change. But lucas is the only stuff i've ever EVER noticed a difference in my car.
Also, averaging miles PER TANK is a terrible and very non accuate way of doing it.

I think you fell into the same line of thought as I did.
He's not figuring miles per tank so much as miles per fillup. You know, go X miles and fillup then devide the mileage by the gallons.
His "this tank" comment means that on the first tankful with the additive he got so many mpg.
