Does it need a change in suspension, transmision and other supporting pieces (as in a V6 to V8 swap)? What engine add ons/bolt ons are used in a 4.2L; the parts made for a V6 or for a V8, does it matter? Will the vehicle become faster, or just more powerful? Any other happenings that I might have missed in the change?

The main swap in a 4.2 stroker is the crankshaft, it gives the engine a longer stroke if you go with the 4.2 crank. That's the main thing that changes, you can change alot more in the engine, but the crank is the main thing. The car will be both faster and more powerful at the same time. Very noticeable difference.

For any car doing this, you need need to swap the crankshaft, pistons and connecting rods at a minimum. Earlier 3.8's will need to change the oil pan, pick-up tube, flywheel and balancer/pulley as well.

Around how much would it cost for a mechanic to install everything?

Np brad, I got your back bud. As for the price to install, that's a tricky question. You're really gonna have a hard time finding someone to do the work. If you went to Ford, they would say no, they don't rebuild engines anymore because it's not cost efficient. But if you do find someone to do it, figure close to $1000. I think they figure 20 hours to rebuild the motor, maybe less, and at $50 an hour, that's $1000.

When the built 4.2L is completed, would one buy aftermarket engine upgrades for a V6 or a V8 to compliment the 4.2L?

It is the same engine block as the one in your car now, just stroked to 4.2l. So it will stay a 6 cylinder.
