how hard is it to swap an auto to a manual?
whats involved?
can i do it at home if i got a garage and all the tools?

More hassle than it's really worth.
You will need the transmission and the clutch on the S197 is hydrolic (sp?). New ECU (or if you can get it retuned, not sure how possible that is). Then you have the clutch, clutch plate and all that. Some underbody work might also be needed, that is the transmission tunnel and the cross member that hold the transmission in place. Probably the major costs, but all the little things add up real quick as well.

its very simple, sell your car and buy a manual  lol we all have asked our selves how hard it is to swap when we have owned an auto... the best solution is to sell the car and buy another one how you want it.

Ha I figured you'd say that once you heard "the only option is to sell your current car". The amount of money and time you have in that car...you'll never get rid of it!

i kinda sold it to a freind, but its more like hes keeping it for me till i can afford to have it back. i never really want to selll it. i will keep it the rest of my life lol

yah me too, it was actually my boy who has my car that put up the post about taking the auto to a manual. i TOLD Him i already asked you guys like last year and everyone told me i twas really a big job and costly.
but he wanted to post up anyway lol
im actually excited about the 2011 stang. lets see what happens! untill then, he comes around and i drive it on saturdays. Hes a car guy so he takes very good care of it.

by the way i LOVE the look of your car. im not a big fan of that model, but between the color, the rims and the hood scoop. thats hot!
