Ok i am having a problem. I started my car and noticed a ticking noise under the valve cover. So i took it off and noticed that 2 of my rockers had came off/loosened. I tried tightening them and started the car and the same 2 did the same thing again. I am wonderin what could this be? Why are they coming a loose? i am using the locks and everything. Could it be that i need to clean them off and let them dry before i try again? could it be that the oil that are in the grooves now from the nut and lock coming off?

Has anyone else ever had this problem? if so how did you fix it?

I have a ticking noise sometimes too but only when the engine is cold. After the car warms up it goes away. I wonder if it's the same problem.

Are you using the correct torque? - Correct torque wrench included and not estimating on one that has a different scale? Double check the correct numbers, running anything aftermarket in there?

yea, F303 cam, msd dizzy and box, aluminum heads

Is any of the threading stripped?

Ok, so i checked again yesterday and what i found is a lot of my studs were not as tight as they could be. So i basically tighted all of them and reset all the rockers... Put everything back on and its fine... Finally after taking things apart a couple of times. Now just to figure out how to stop this whistling noise from my throttle body....

Glad to hear you resolved the rocker arm issue. The whistling may be annoying but the engine falling apart as it is running makes it the least of the problems.

As for the whistling are you able to locate where it is coming from? If it's the intake/throttle body make sure the connections are good and there are no holes where when air passes it will whistle (obvious whistle sound). Also on some CAI a lot of drivers report that it does give the car a slight whistle at a certain range in RPM/MPH.

yea the sound seems to be coming from the throttle body area so i just have to pin-point from where.. but yea like you said that is the least of my worries now...lol
