I got a quote on how much it would cost to stroke my engine. It would take me to a 2.3L. I got quoted $1700 if I have my own crank and $1900 if I don't. That includes forged rods and pistons, balance shaft eliminator, machine work, possibly new springs and retainers, etc. I can get the crank for about $125 or so.
I would gain about 10-15% increase in tq and a little bit of horsepower. I would also be able to spool my turbo about 500 rpms sooner.

dude, 1900 for a forged stroker is ****ING cheap. lowest i found a forged stroker was 2500, and that didnt include labor.
is the shop that will be doing the work well versed and reputable?
id say go for it, then slap a gt35r or the equavilent behind it, and marvel in the power of stroker torque for flawless driveability, and ability to spool a large turbo(such as the gt35r) at relatively low rpm's(4-4500).
yes dude, you should definately go for it. btw whats the CR of the stroker?

yeah, the shop is reputable. My evo buddy has had 3 engines built by them, including his evo stroker. And yes, the cheapest I have found for just parts is 2000 for the evo. So he's getting me connected.
Compression would prolly be stock. 8.8:1

nice, then definately go for it. just my opinion, but a forged stroker will make for a great platform and lots of room for expansion come later down the road when you become serious about modding the **** out of it.

I am pretty sure I will do it. I just have to make sure they can get it done before Oct 16th. I have a dyno tuning session then and was going to get tuned for Alcohol injection (which I have in my room waiting to be installed) and it would be nice to surprise people and show up w/ a 2.3L, alcohol injected evo.
Can we say 400awhp :p
