I'm looking at a Vortech supercharger to go on my 97 3.8 with the car has about 81K. The kit says it's rated for 8-9 psi. is this to much boost for a bone stock engine with the millage? Here are the claims Stock HP/TQ:150/215
Vortech HP/TQ: 215/259 Boost (PSIG): 8-9 Includes High-capacity fuel injectors and ECM chip or module Carb E.O. D-213-17. This kit retails for about $3650. I was going to boost the GT but it will void the warranty on the new engine. . Does anybody have any input on a better supercharger/turbo?

if that one willl fit the 3.8 and u have bigger injectors and fuel pump on hand try it out and see. can u adjust the boost? start a 5 psi. most stock engines can safely hold 5 psi safely. Not much gain but youll be able to tell how she sounds and drives if she can handle anymore. good luck bro and post a video i would like to see that! far as a better supercharger im sure someone make it but on the turbo kit ur gonna have to fabricate one. now u do have single port heads so there might be a chap alternative than that supercharger. u can do a m90 swap off a thunder bird SC. im not sure what the gains are but its alot cheaper than vortech. youtube and see whos done it. i was gonna do it on mine but i have split port heads and by switchin to single port i would have lost 30+ hp so the install would have been pointless. while its broken down port and polish some if u got a decent size air compressor or take it to a shop. u can buy the m90 kits for $500 on ebay. jusat make sure you get one in good shape. but if u have the money to go with a vortech do it. dont take me for granted on the m90 i never finished the project but i know it was affordable and ppl do it!

if you have a GT just enjoy it as the supercharged 3.8L will be just a touch faster if not right at the same speed as the GT.
Keep in mind that 3700 dollar price tag does not include the 800~ you will need for a tune/tuner to make it right (can not skip this and the tune has to be done on a dyno and by a professional not just anyone)
the 3.8L will take 9-11 psi. If you go over 8-9 the tune needs to be really spot on, just another reminder, who you choose to tune your car will determine how it ends up.

I'd almost consider waiting and supercharge the GT. Looking at your mod list, you have quite a few of the supporting mods already. That way, you'd really be putting down some serious hp. I always thought the GT's responded better to power adders than the 3.8's.
But it's up to you man. You may want to look at Prochargers as well for the v6. They make a good centri supercharger. 75-80% hp gains runnin at 11PSI, and it basically bolts on. Plus they are pretty loud and sound sweet. But as Spec said, the most important thing is the tune, regardless of what you do.

I want to supercharge my GT but I just replaced the engine, it and it has a 3 year 100k warranty. I don't want to loose the warranty I'm kind of limited on mods to do on it. Has anyone heard of a good speed shop up north I'm willing to travel a couple hundred miles if I have to. The only shop that I know of in VT. is a little shady and way over priced...
