We all know a lot about each other already.. But what say we get a bit more personal?
You don't have to share the second part if you don't want to but...
What kinda work are you in? And about how much do you make per month? (I'm mostly asking this because I might be looking for a new line of work once I graduate my 4 year school its not like I'm looking to see who's loaded on here and who's not..)
I'm 21... and am an auto tech for Ford... certified in everything except diesel.. And am only 2 ASE's (and said ford diesel cert) away from being a senior master tech.. Have done everything 5+ times from engine rebuilds to trans overhauls... basically done it all.. even done my share of diesel work...
I make ~2100 per month.. which for 21 years old I figure is not bad at all.. But I've been working on cars as long back as I can remember.. so I have a one up on a lot of guys my age that entered the field when they started school..
So yeah.. lets hear it

my official job title is "Estimator". Basically we make construction materials for industrial metal buildings. I sit behind a computer and do math all day long. VERY easy work, most of the time I'm on ebay.... No college degree, I've only completed high school...I bring home ~2,500 a month I'm a cancer and I enjoy long walks on the beach and candlelight bubblebaths...oh and I'm 23 years old...

I am a software automation specialist (I write programs to test software so that people don't have to do it). I had to take a major pay cut to move to Louisiana but it was worth it. I currently make 4932.71 per month gross...I bring home 1581 every 2 weeks after taxes and health insurance and such. I used to make 6066.66 a month in NY before I moved down here.

Hmmmmm. OK. I guess. I am a Systems Management Server Administrator. Besides being a Network Admin as a primary duty, working with exchange, server builds, and all those special problems, I also work in threat mitigation, anti-hacking, computer forensics, and mainly building and patching over 6700 workstations.
I am also the "go-too" guy for the weirdest problems that may occur. I deal with problems and solutions at all levels of the oSI model. With my military retirement, I make 6700.00 a month. After taxes, I take home about 4200.00 a month.
Yes I'm poor.

Lab Research Aide and serve tables. I make about $3000 a month before taxes, about $2000/month take home. I'm 23 now and have a college degree. These are just temporary jobs as in a couple months, I am joining the Air Force.
Starting pay for an O-1 is 2,343.60 plus money for housing, food, flight pay, and free healthcare. That will be my career

I am in the US Air Force. Currently a Senior Airman (SrA..E-4 pay grade) My Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) is 2A551 which translates into C-130 Hercules Crew Chief. At my base I am assigned to the Aero Repair shop, giving me an PAFSC (iirc its P) of 2A551J. In my shop I act as an Aero Repair Technician, Wheel and Tire, Crash Recovery, but must still perform Crew Chief responsibilites when needed. I am basically a glorified grease monkey/gas attendant..but I love my job.
My current pay is $1,787.10 a month not including BAH and BAS. If I do not get my E-5 in May when my 4 year mark rolls around I will get $1,877.70 a month. If I do make E-5, when i sew on SSgt ill get $2,060.70. Big jump in pay there.
not as much compared to the 2nd LT (O-1) just coming in at $2,343.60 base pay.
I have been looking at doing the Blue to Green program here a lot here recently. If I can pass a couple tests I will become a Warrant Officer and go to Ft. Rucker, AL for flight school. During WOCS i will make $2,060.70, but after completion of WOCS I will make $2,684.40 a month Base Pay. Really big jump and more then any 2nd LT. (and I wont even have a degree yet, just my CCAF Associates degree that I should hopefully be getting before the years end. Just have 3 classes left and ALS to do.

I fix things.
I work at a semiconductor R&D facility and if it breaks someone thinks I should fix it, even if it's just a a POS electric stapler. Send me to school to learn multimillion dollar machinery and some office puke wants me to fix his stapler.
Oh well. I take home about $5k a month. My wife spends about 5 and a half though.

It is a lot cheaper. I think the last comparison I looked at was a 72k salary in NY was the same as a 60k salary here. Everything from food to gas is cheaper here. The only difference is that they tax everything here, food, medicine, everything. But, even with the extra taxes, it is still cheaper.

I basically kinda am in the same career field as Corey, but he would be like my boss, or the engineer I would go to if I needed some sort of guidance on how to fix these dreadful jets I work on. I'll be in your shoes one day Corey. I need to finish my A&P license as well. I should call embry riddle. Is that who you got yours from?

I worked as a federal cop for the last ten years but just recently resigned to go back to school and get a job that doesnt affect my heart as the last decade has. I guess you can only take so much of seeing your buddies about the same age as you (36) having heart attacks. LOL I think I may get a degree in social work. What do you think of that Meteroa>>LOL
