shorty headers do JACK! its a waste of money they dont do much.
long tube headers add to performance. Techniqually i could try to bullshit and tell you why they are better but im not going to do that lol
i just know that long tube headers are the way to go. go for kooks headers, they makem for V6s. they are relativly cheap and stainless steel.
bro if your going for long tube headers, you should just go for that true duel setup for the exhaust as well.
better to do it right the first time.

Headers aren't really necessary unless your stock ones are cracked, or you really want to replace them...the stock ones are certainly fine on a N/A engine.
If you do want new ones, I'd do as Ken said and look into longtubes. They will give you a deeper tone and maybe a slight increase in hp. Just keep in mind they do hang low under your car. Something to remember when considering lowering springs and suspension mods.
Some of the best sounding v6's I've heard had longtubes connected to an h-pipe...so, it's up to you.

Hmm...I wouldn't say it would be too much of a problem. You'd really have to watch out for steep driveways and parking lot speed bumps...get used to entering driveways/fast food joints at an angle to not scrape your bumper or your longtubes.
I'd guess it wouldn't be to much an issue if they scrape as long as your going slow.
Maybe someone with longtubes and a drop will chime in.

sonicpony is right, i say it depends on where you live and where you drive. in NY i just know on what road where to avoid steepness and what drive ways i can and CAN NOT go down or up. somtiems you can go up and not down. its werid.
you know more then us the roads where you live. just make a judgment bro based on what sonicpony and me have told u.

they dont add any power on near stock v6's, you would be lucky to get 5rwhp... probably more like 2, just FYI.

yeah im not going to do that yet but i am like in a month or two when i have the money for everything i got enough now for my gears, tlok, and tune so im gong to get that. but whats the difference from long and short tube headers? dont they basically do the same thing just that on short it takes less effort to go through.

Long tube (LT) headers are closer, or equal in length for each exhaust port. They also provide a smoother flow for the exhaust gases. Short tube (shorty) headers provide unequal exhaust tubes before they headers bolt up to the rest of the exhaust.

in laymans terms ( i hate that term) shorty headers do NOTHING basically and Long tube headers give you a bit more horsepower. But the more you mod the more role the long tube headers will play. atleast thats what i think.
but seems like you got a good start with that tlock, gears and tune. your gonna really feel it with those mods. Good luck my freind.

No problem, it's the way I learned it at least. The pros and cons are theoretical at the least of it and further more the shorty headers that have equal length tubes that roll over each other should be avoided with this airflow theory. They also do make mid-length headers.
And yes the the increase in horsepower will be greater when there are other mods. Think of performance work as an orchestra: Each instrument by itself is only a piece of the entire score (music) but a bunch of instruments and musicians playing together at the right times benefits the viewer even more.
Also think of performance this way; The power from the fuel in an engine is dependent on two things: air and gasoline. By increasing these we can get more power. One of the ways we can increase airflow is by making the engine "breathe" better by using less restrictions such as a better breathing air filter and straighter intakes and exhaust. Basically just think of the engine needing to breathe.

Normally shortys wouldn't have equal length tubing. The physical difference would be that the exhaust bolts up to the headers up more in the engine bay. LT headers, for example, come down much lower where the rest of the exhaust would bolt up to.
