T-5 transmission

What year did the start using the T-5 transmision

I want to say 79~ with the fox body but I may be wrong.

That gives me an approximate starting area. I'm trying to find 5 speed that is not a T-5 to put into a 70 model stang. With the T-5, the input shaft is too long and I don't feel like spending the extra 600 for the bell housing and adapter kit to make the T-5 work.
