There are some new products out from SCT these days, so let me clarify some things.
There are two X-Calibrator 2s out, the 9400 custom programmed, and the 9415 pre-programmed.
The 9415 is loaded with generic tunes from SCT. The 9400 is custom programmed by the SCT dealer that you buy it from.
You can guess which is better.
In the past any time you bought an X-Cal2 the SCT dealer HAD TO put some kind of program on it, be it a generic tune from SCT or a one of their specialty tunes (like VMP does). Now its possible for a dealer to just pull a pre-programmed device off their shelf and ship it out the door. In some cases this can be fine, but if you have a problem specific to your car will the dealer know how to fix it if they don't actually tune? Everything we do at VMP is custom programmed based on our extensive tuning experience, we are not just parts resellers, but actual tuners who know the ins and outs of the Ford computer systems.
We send all our X2s out loaded with 3 custom programs, with user adjustable options enabled. The options allow you to play with timing, a/f, shift points, rev limits, gear ratio, tire size, etc. But you are not required to adjust anything, its just an option. We tend to have some of the lowest prices out there and will beat anyone else's price, with the huge volume of X2s that we move this is possible (500+ per yr).
