t5 swap

wattup all.. ok well i was wondering how extensive and exPENsive it would be to swap out an auto to a stick... see i have somone who is willing to sell me his t5 transmission for 200 bucks. its in pretty good shape (atleast the outside of it).. i was wondering what i would need and if this would be advisable to buy.. thanks guys THIS SITE is the SH**

Figure you'll need the tranny and a tune, the pedal assembly and a clutch assembly(clutch, flywheel, cable). You might even need a new bellhousing that has the pivot for the throwout bearing. So maybe $1500

brent? what would i have to update? or is it mainly a direct swap? aside from the clutch, flywheel and pedal assembly, what else would i need? how about the ecU? would i have to update to like a manual ecu?? or can i use the same one sorry guys newbie..

i priced a brand new t-5 a whild back at like 800 bucks from www.gefracing.com but... im sure they have went up. I personally would not buy a used tranny with out a GOOD bit of info on what kind of condition it is in. Which i doubt you can get... you dont want to have issues with it.

I would spend the extra and do it right. You could probably get it done for 2 grand~ if you did the work yourself~ maybe 2.5

I would just sell the car and buy another one since 2.5 grand is probably over half what the car is worth. Swaping in a manual will kill the resale value and you couldnt sell it for more than you would before, less probably.

I know mine is a 4-cyl Fox body, but I did mine for less than $600.

$200 T-5 and bellhousing
$200 Stock replacement clutch (came with throwout bearing)
$050 For all the small parts from a JY (cable, pedal assy, etc)
$030 Flywheel resurfacing

While the pedal assembly is out I would go ahead and put in a St33da clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster, It is a PITA to change while the pedals are in the car. i finally got frustrated and just took my pedal assy out.

This is the link to where I got my info on how to do this. The first time I did this it took me a week. the second time was in only about 6 hours.

When I did it to my first NA 2.3 I used the auto ECU and the only problem was that it spat out a code that the torque converter was not locking out.

I do not know if the EEC-V would react differently though.
