About the only way I know to do that...is have a computer in your car. And the only way to run it is with some sort of screen. You could get a touch screen, have your music just one touch away. Get the best in audio programs and have a computerized stereo that noone else can touch. Only downside to this is it's kinda costly unless you know how to program touch screen computers and you will have to amp all your speakers.

What is the best way to get the computer in your car? I take it I would have to turn the computer on every single time I got in and then when I got out I would have to turn it off.... that could get annoying...
It is weird that there is not some sort of current product that could take care of something like this.
I would not mind doing this and would like to have a touch screen monitor to make things easier navigating

Ok is there any way to custom fit a 7" monitor in the center console somewhere?
Somewhere it would fit cleanly?
Got any pictures of where people mount their 7" monitor in their stangs?

No Headunit just a In Dash Motorize Monitor that will fold out, with VGA input for the computer.
I need to figure out where to mount the computer though.. its needs to be in a decent place to get access to in case someone wants to listen to their cd and I dont have it already... so they can insert it into the cd rom....

I would say just mount the computer in the bottom opening and the monitor in the top. or visaversa

you should get the dimensions from them and go from there, I thought maybe that was small enough to fit in the dash console where that pocket is under where you would put a cd player

you could have a custom rear seat back made and put the cpu in the middle, pretty easy access with out a ton of hassel or it being in the way. Think of it like the cars that have the arm rest that folds down in the middle of the back seat, cept when yours folded down it would be the cpu there instead. It would also be isolated in the trunk so it would not be very nosiy in the cabin.

You can build micro-ITX based computers and get the power supplies that are already set up for automotive use. They'll monitor the ignition switch, boot it up when you cut the car on, shut it down shortly after you power it off, protect against over and under-volt, and keep the computer from discharging your battery. I've already bought a micro-ITX box with a 1.0ghz VIA Epia chip in it, just for this very thing. Money got tight after buying the house and I never could decide where to mount the display, so the project has stalled. I'll let you have it for what I gave for it, if you want it. $150. (it's got an AC-DC power supply in it now, so you'd have to buy the auto one seperate).

If I buy it will you help me piece together everything else I will need? I want to do this correctly... I will be using something like this for the monitor.... http://www.digitalww.com/DWW-700M.htm
If you can get me a list of what I will need and want to help me put it all together I'll take it off your hands.

This box is complete. It's got a laptop dvd-rom in it, 15gb laptop hard disk, 1ghz processor, 512mb of RAM (It'll support 1gb), and an AC-DC power supply. I've got XP Pro on it, right now. You'll need the computer, the DC-DC power supply, that screen looks like it'll work fine, and you'll need to do something about audio. I was going to wire mine into the car's stereo system. We'd probably have to do some research to see if we could make that fly on your car. I'm no car audio guru.
