Of course the heads H.O's using the roller rockers, I think the Intake manifold is a little bigger along with the throttle body and injectors and a 351 firing order. I'm sure there's more info but I'm all out lol...

Do you have a motor in mind? If not I'd look for a Lincoln mark 7 LSC those had the 225hp H.O's stock.

I had a 87 with the H.O. If you check the firing order to make sure it's a 351 order you should be fine. 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

NON H.O. motors
Base fuel injected 5.0 non H.O. motors were rated at 150-165 flywheel horsepower and between 265-280 ft-lbs of torque depending on the model it was installed in and the exhaust it received (at least, according to Ford).
These motors were in 86-91 Crown Vics/GrandMarq's/Town Cars; '86-87 Continentals; 86-88 T-birds & Cougars; 1986 MarkVII (except the LSC edition -- 1987 - up were all 5.0 H.O.)
How much more restrictive were the non-H.O. parts?
--50 mm throttle body as opposed to the H.O. 60 mm....The upper intake opening is smaller as well.
--The dreaded E6 heads.
--A cam with under .400" advertised lift and less duration than the stock H.O. cam.
--14 pound injectors fed by a 65 lph fuel pump.
To add -- ALL 5.0 motors installed in PASSENGER CARS -- whether H.O. or non H.O. were roller blocks. Truck motors were machined to accept the dogbones for the roller lifters and the hold down plate, but were given flat tappet cams unti 1994 when they switched to Mass Air.
All 5.0's from 1993 on have hypereutectic pistons.
Good luck!

If you can look at the block itself....
below the lower intake look at the lifters. If there is a metal retainer holding them in (a large piece in the valley) it's a roller cam. Individual lifters it's gonna be a flat tappet.
