Well I got home around 2000hrs last night after my week up at Andrews AFB/D.C. doing that MRT. Was some good fun and hard work and I sure am glad to be home. Got the elevator changed in two days so we had Sat and Sun off for being tourists.
Now ill get on with the pics
We had to stop at Warner Robbins AFB, GA to pick up the new elevator. Here it is loaded up on 3 pallets in the back of the C-130

there seems to be a couple things missing from this F-15:doh0715:

and a hell of a lot missing from this C-5

the reason why we made this trip

our best guess is it started cracking at a rivet until enough of it cracked to let the wind get up under it and rip it off. That is only .020 sheet metal right there.

hoist hooked up

elevator off

these bolts that connect the two torque tubes and a couple bearings further down the horizontal stabilizer are all that hold the elevator on

and you have to stick your arms through this little hole to get to them

new one on
now to the sight seeing
I got choked up pretty good at Arlington seeing these sights

JFK

the view from the Arlington House

Civil war unknowns....2,111 unknown soldiers lie here

some really wierd Toyota Truck that was heavily modded. A bus stopped right after this pic so thats all i got.
Now on Sunday we hopped the Metro to the Air and Space museum, Natural History and American History Museums. I took a ton of pics, but due to low light they arent some of the best, plus i came home with 150 pics taken and im tired of uploading I am not going to post them. Maybe at a later date. Those museums are awesome. And being the Aircraft bum i am i loved the Air and Space museum. Cool thing in the American history museum was I got to see the flag that inspired the Star Spangled Banner. That was really cool.
Now I will post this one from the American History Museum. This is the Flag that was drapped across the Pentagon on 9/11

another one of those tear you up moments to me.
well that is all for now. hope you enjoyed my little pic fest.
