what all would i have to do to lower my car? can i just buy the springs and install them and that is it?

What year and model stang do you have? This will make a difference on the kits recommended. Also, how low do you want to go, how do you want it to ride, etc etc.

i want it to ride nice like stock, but i don't want it to be much lower than an inch. i have a 2002 v6. |

You want it to ride nice like stock...hrm...
I dunno, I have the ford C springs, and love them. But it may be a stiffer ride than you are wanting. You might could look into something like the ford B spring. BTW, I also have a 02 v6. What color is yours?

its white. i don't know what i want to do right now, cause as you can see in my other thread i want to do wheels too. but then again i don't. i just want my back wheels to set even with the rear fender, which is somethin i could do with adapters. then i could just put wider tires on it, and give it more of an aggressive look, but still appear stock. i'm stuck and don't know what to do. |

Are you mechanically inclined and have tools and all that to do the suspension swap? Its really not hard but dont do it yourself if you dont feel like youll be able to. Id go with C springs personally, you wont be disappointed. Also, is there any meaning the "OX" in your username?

yeah i feel confident enough to do the suspension myself with the help of some friends. the "OX" in my name stangs for oxford, as in oxford white, the color of my car. |

I would recommend H&R Springs. Your not going to get that lowered look and keep the stock ride. |

Why not get the bullitt handling kit. Save another 300 or so and you can be almost done with your ****. It doesn't lower as much a C Springs I think and the ride is like that of a Mustang Bullitt.

it all depends on if you care about performance and how much of a drop you like. 1.5 is the limit for normal drivability if even that, if you plan to lower the front bumper with a differnet one i wouldnt venture past 1.25. H&R is a very good spring, so is the fms c spring depending on your needs/budget.

Ford C-Springs or the bullit kit that Kiljosh mentioned are your best bets |

I have Ford C springs, and they're perfect. Cut rear coil.
You can count on needing C/C plates though.

with c springs?
i dont think you need cc plates till you go past the 1.5" drop mark.
i have c-springs and i love them. theyre not too low but they dropped the car a good inch and made it look so much better. handling wise, it did jack shit. but later on ill actually lower it with a good spring/adjustable shock combo. but for 130 bucks for a set of 4 c springs to make your car look so much better is worth it.
theres a few writeups, i think i used one found on mustangworld.com. makes the job so much easier.

got a thought as i read past these threads on one point. i put dropzone springs on my 6..lowered the front perfect but the back dropped more than i like. after adjusting headlights, adjustable lower and upper control arms, 18;s in the back with 17's in front, as well as a cobra r front facia the look of the car is finally fixed. just warning that some are fit for the v8 & v6s too and they just look weird on the lighter v6's.

fms C springs 650 front rate 300 rear~ rate. 1.1-1.25 drop with a coil cut on the rear springs.
They are a good spring and cheap so dont get suckered into eibach springs or something when all you want is a bit of a drop.
CC plates are very good to have regardless, if you have wider than 245 tires you should get some anyway.

Bullitt suspension kit is the best bang for the buck.... springs, tokico shocks & struts, front and rear sway bars. Can't go wrong if you want a modest drop, but MUCH better handling.

Well, let's recap.
I have C springs. I have a coil cut in the rear. I need C/C plates.
So yeah, I'm thinking that yeah, you might want C/C plates if you do what I did.

bullit springs and c springs are nearly identical, seems the c springs drops the car more though.
All you need is springs and shocks/struts.

If you buy the bullit kit from rdmotorsport, it comes with c springs. That's what I have on my car. I also have 3/4 coil cut off front springs and 1/2 off back springs.

And if you want handling and a nice ride look around for progressive rate springs. They are different than normal coil springs in that they give you a decent ride, but when you want handling it's there for ya.
Also off topic but, anyone know what our cars can do on the skidpad?

It all depends on what your tires are, width, sidewall, springs, shocks, struts, subframes, c/c plates, swaybars, etc etc etc. Stock, it'll suck pretty bad.

well i just ordered me 17x9 cobras. i think i am going to be putting 255/45/17 tires on them. thats what my friend has and they look good on his car. i think i only want to lower the car 1.25 at the most. that way i get the look, but i also have the drivability.

get c-springs and c/c plates. You might not need the plates with the c's but I certainly needed them on my v6 when i used the c-springs.
