me and Username182 built the box yesterday, today i mounted the box with L brackets and lots of self tapping screws, and fabbed up a nifty little amp rack(which you wont see anyways, but looks kinda cool). played with the neon tubes a bit to see how i wanted them to go inside the box. still unsure if i should do 2, 3 tubes(2 on top sides, 1 in bottom middle) or 4 tubes.

i also had an idea. take the plexiglass window and get the running pony etched into it, just maybe a little 5" long pony. then username182 elaborated on it and said i should drill laterally into the plexiglass, and mount a couple LED's in there. the light will light up the etched part, but not the rest of the plexiglass(since the light from the led has to have something to refract off of to illuminate it). im seriously thinking about it, get some red led's and a red glowing pony to offset the craploads of blue in the trunk. well see. even if i dont do the LED idea, i still will prolly do the etched pony.

after i took pics i sprayed the inside of the box black, but im still a few coats away.

after im done with the box, its on to the amp and wiring, then the paneling.

some pics of the progress.

oh and the box is able to be taken in and out of the car, i just have to unbolt the trunk latch bracket and take out the spare tire to get enough room to finnagle it in and out, which is ok cause the spare tire is going anyways since the amp is going in there.

he has rounded boxes in his trunk.

Maybe they aren't "boxes" but they house subs, and those are generally referred to as sub boxes.

yup, gave me a good 6" of top-bottom working room. that thing is as useless as it is retarded.

now if only ford didnt make the crawlspace between the cabin and trunk only 12" high, getting boxes for 12" subs back there would be a snap.

today i got the box painted inside, got the amp supports mounted, and made cardboard cutouts of the soon to be vinyl panels.

That black thing is where your speakers are mounted, you have 2 6x8's and 2 tweeters and 2 amps back there mounted on that little plastic thingy.

yeah its pretty stupid. you can just mount the speakers right into the deck like 99% of the other cars on the road with speakers there.

more updates.......

cut the panels and floorboard pieces, and got the padding and vinyl glued into them, going to wrap them up tomorrow after i get a staple gun thats stong enough to staple into particle board.

tomorrows to do list will be
buy stapler("i believe you have my stapler")
wrap panels(should take 10 minutes)
run posi amp cable(1-2 hrs)
run ground(2 minutes)
run new rca's(done by previous owner using the modulator, but his rca ends broke, leaving me fukked, (5 minutes)
hook up neons to the transformer, and that to the amp remote and gnd(so it turns on with the amp, or at least gets power when the amp is on)
make a riser for the amp(it sets really low inside its housing)(20 minutes)
mount amp to brackets(10 minutes)
drill hole for sub wiring in box(5 minutes)
permanently fix sub to box(using large nuts and bolts, lock washers and threadlock)(20 minutes)
wire sub(5 minutes)
close the box up(screw in plexiglass front)(5 minutes)
attach amp wires(posi, gnd, remote, subs, bass remote)(5 minutes)
attach L Brackets to sides of the box(10 minutes)
attach panels to L brackets(20 minutes)

then marvel in yet another insane custom creation by me. i think if me and my freind really try we can finish it before 10ish that night. there is no more need for cutting, maybe a few more drill holes and screws. should be a good day.

then later on i gotta make panels for the front of the enclosure(the space between the cabin and trunk), but those should be rather easy, hardest part is figuring out how to make them attach to the car but removeable with the turn of a finger(as in, a latch kinda deal) so i can store my toolset between the enclosure side(opposite to mach amp side) out of the way but easily accessible.

ok got pretty far. basically got the sub permantely mounted, got the amp all wired up, wires ran to sub, plexiglass bolted up to box, amp mounted.

all that is left is to tuck the vinyl around the panels and mount them. me and my buddy stopped at the tuck part cause it was 10:30, and my parents put on Charlie n the Choc Factory, and we both kinda wanted to see it, and were majorly hungry, so we called it quits instead of rushing the vinyl and fucking it up.

but afterwards i got to play with my system a bit. with the bass all the way down on the mach head unit(since the amp is still tuned for 2 subs instead of one) the bass was very loud, even with the seats closed i couldnt hear the exhaust over the bass, and that was at a low volume. ungodly amounts of bass is going to be easily made with this thing. i cant wait to get it all mounted and installed.
