I have a 00 V6 mustang and at times you can hear a noticeable leak in the exhaust manifold. It has the same old stock exhaust system and crazy as it sounds Im fairly happy with it. The question I have is who makes headers that would be a direct bolt on for the rest of my exhaust or do I need to replace it all?

Hm...ok. I know on my car, my passenger manifold separated where the manifold meets the midpipe.

I have a 00' and the right head split apart on me too. Right by the mide pipe and egr line. You're better off replacing it but if you must you can either take it to a fab shop or a muffler shop and have them weld it back for you. Before I replaced the heads this is what I did with no problems. Watch out though muffler shops want to rape you like 70 dollars for a simple weld!!!! This exhause leak is very very common. Its been highlighted all over the web! In the exact same place. When you get the head off look at where the heads are welded and then look at the left one. You'll notice that the left one is much much more stronger!!!!

It's not the heads..it's the manifold. But yeh, Ford just won't do a recall on it, and I want my 180 bucks. I still have the split manifold and my receipt if they ever decide to do a recall lol.

Same thing happened to me on the passenger side. I just went with MAC LT headers, but any Shorty header for our car from any company will bolt directly up. Change the sound a little, but not much. If you decide to change the headers BE SURE to replace the header gaskets too. If not it'll prolly leak after the install. If you are gonna install them yourself, be prepared for a BEAST of an install, Not hard just slow, hard to reach, and tidious. Good luck.

Haha...I took off my blown manifold and put a new one on...with no jack...with my car lowered 1.5. It was very very interesting. Luckily I had already done an egr delete.

Get yourself a pair of Mechanix gloves if your swapping headers or be prepared to bleed.

Well what do you want to call it? It's not a head, it's an exhaust manifold. It's not headers b/c well...it's not aftermarket.

I call it a manifold aswell....don't headers also merge into a single collector instead of the 3 pipes going into 1 one at a time? And the install isn't too bad, just takes some time. I put jba shorties on my v6 with handtools in my driveway in probably about 3 hours

You don't have to get an H-pipe. Your car will run fine with true duals. That's what my exhaust is run as.
