I want to get a XCalibrator 2 programmer for my 2004 automatic mustang but im a little confuse about the Automatic Transmission Shift point I don’t understand how the programmer will help to shift better in an automatic car.
Does anyone know what will be a good setting for my car? I just have a cold air intake and dual exhaust.
Automatic Transmission Shift Schedule:
WOT 1st - 2nd: -3 to +7mph
WOT 2nd - 3rd: -4 to +8mph
WOT 3rd - 4th: -5 to +10mph
WOT 4th - 5th: -5 to +10mph

The big difference is how it makes the shifts quicker.
That also generates less heat in the trans then the stock soft slow shifts.

I don't have the xcal, but I have a chip that adjusted my shift points. It makes one heck of a difference in the car. My 1-2 shift is at 6k...and it will throw the car sideways if I stay on it. 2-3 shift is around 80, and 3-4 shift is around 110. It makes for a much better driving car.

Most of the improvement comes from firming up the shifts, making them faster and harder.
A good tune will not decrease mileage, that is one thing that I can improve.
Keep in mind that the SCT X-cal2 is custom programmed by the dealer that you buy it from.
Send me an email.

is 6k rpm even good for the 3.8?... I've had it at 5750 or so before, and WOW... (and that was in D... not 1st.. just hammered it and it stuck in 1st for some reason, but yeah, very fishy right before shifting)

Around town, my car also doesn't fish around for gears. It normally hits 3rd and stays in it, even if I slow down and such. My gas mileage in the city has gone up slightly from the chip.

6k is fine. The stock rev limit is at 5600 on 99-04s.

Definitely. Send me an email. If you get an X2 with on-device adjustments you'll be able to correct for the gears right on the X2.

110? thats it? that seems to be sooner than stock...........
my 1-2 shift is at 6k, my 2-3 and 3-4 are at 5.5k rpms.......that puts the 2-3 at about 80 or so and 3-4 at a little over 120.....

Yes if programmed for one, since V6s became OBD2 in 94.
