I have an automatic 2000 V6 I was wondering if an automatic shifter will be the way to go in order to take away at least inpart the disadvantage with manual. If it does which one will you guys recomend? and how do they actually work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

a chip or tuner will help your auto's shifting...i think a tranny cooler would also be good.
04stang has the x-cal 2 and i think it is great...others should be able to help you soon

a new shifter will do nothing to reduce automatic tranny parasitic loss.
shift kit
torque converter
rear gears
driveshaft
tranny cooler
Those will help

well, with an custom tuned x-cal2 tuner, cai, udp, and single flowmast muffler on a stock y pipe, my car hangs with modded 5-speed v6s all day...........actually the 5-speed v6 i ran had cai, true dual exhaust, 3.73s, and a couple other things. here is the thread
http://www.mustangevolution.com/foru...n-waiting.html
we raced a few weeks before that from a 5 roll and i stayed at his back bumper till he shifted into 3rd, and then i walked by him........but that was b/c he had a ~200lb passenger..........but i had a stereo and full int, he had no spare/jack...........hmm

If you got a shift kit, torque converter, t-lok and gears you would probably eat most V-6's that are manuals

the best place to start would be with a tune and then go from there.

If you are going to drive your auto hard get a good auxillary tranny cooler.

What all is required in running a tranny cooler. I really really need to run one on my car as aggressive as my tune is.

It mounts in front of the radiator and connects in line after the stock cooler.
