I'm looking to get some drag tires for my 05' GT.
Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial
http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...et_radial.html
Is there a size that would fit my GT stock rims (17x8)? The P275/40R17?
Any suggestions on different rear rims to match with these tires?
Is is reasonable to change tires off a rim, or a better idea to just buy new/used rims for the drag tires?

I'm still looking for help on this. I don't know how to pick a tire size for my rims.

No responses
Anyway, I found some used 05' V6 16" factory rims 16x7.
The factory tires for these rims are P215/65R16.
Will a MT ET Street Radial fit on these rims?
(P255/50R16, size equivalent 26x10.50R16)

I've never messed with dr's...and I dunno why ppl aren't responding in here man. But, there are some ppl who run dr's all the time, they wear fast, but not everyone has the money for an extra set of wheels/tires. Now then, as far as the tire sizes, I really have no idea once you convert out of the metric reading...

i'd go with the largest sidewall as possible so it can flex most since you'll only be using these at the track i assume. As far as width, I doubt a 255 would fit on 7" rim...the wider the better for traction, and since you're using these for drag racing..i'd look for a bigger wheel and fit some nice wide dr's onto it. I dunno about the 05's..but a 40 sidewall on an 18" rim is what the 2k cobra r has.
for some reason i can't find it right now, but there is a wheels and tires write up that tells a lot of this info

I've desided against buying new rims at this time.
I want to get some drag radials for the stock gt rims.
That MT DR 275/40R17 suggest a 9" rims, but the stock on the gt is 8".
Anyone know if this match will work?
If not, what dr would you suggest on the stock gt rim?

I'm almost sure a 275 would fit on an 8" rim. A lot of people run nitto's and like em.
