Is there a past thread that discusses the best way to get the most MPG from a V6 or can anyone suggest the best add-ons to do (besides lowering your speed)?

What year is your car?
How many miles do you have on it?

pretty much whats above^ but a CAI can also help. running injection cleaner and 87 octane in it will also help. i run injection cleaner every oil change~
change the fuel filter every year~ and other regular stuff. I get 22-23mpg with my modifications(gears cut down on the mpg so keep that in mind)

well a pulley and dual exahust helps. a tune can help sometimes.
umm lets see. my 3.8L got 32mpg when stock with dual exhaust.
then i did ported intakes and pulley still got 30-31mpg.
then i added 3.45 gears. and i got like 25-27mpg.
then i added ported heads,Cam and more agressive intake. i got 23-25mpg.
then i added 4.30 gears still got 23-25mpg.
umm then i built a low compression 4.2L and still got 23-25mpg. a month afterwards i did a tubular front suspension to drop weight. this didn't seem to help with my fuel mileage at all.
ok this is when it changed alot. i did my turbo kit and then installed 3.55 gears. for the one week end that it was still a 5spd. i got 21-23mpg and that was with me getting into boost around everycorner.
then i installed a C4 trans(no overdrive) i then got about 15mpg. once i get this converter set-up right i think i will see about 18-20mpg with this set-up.

For the best MPG I would say a UD pulley and special MPG tune. I think with those two things you could see a 2-4mpg increase.

99% of the V6's get high teens to low twentys in gas milage. The pre 99s got better due to gears mainly. The 99 up's dont expect more than 25-27~ average. A tune can definatly help.

I just drove from Las Vegas to Ohio, Each tank refil I listed the Milage and how much fuel I used, and the best I got was 29.5 mpg at 75 MPH. I have read my 1996 V6 Mustang was the best mpg stock and I must agree it was.
I used 94 gallons to travel 2,612 miles.
I got about 26 to 27 MPG in the mountains.

it is 100% stock, About a year ago I did a head gasket job ( we all know why ) and replaced almost everything under the hood with stock, Now my fan motor went out in the long drive but it was so cold I didn't need it, now they want $130 for a Motor, I will see if I can get one used on eBay or a junkyard before I pay $130 just for a Fan motor.....
Anyone got a spare??

I recall paying far less for a fan motor at Autozone when mine went out on the 95 I owned.
How many miles are on your car?

2 owners, I bought it at 105k in 2003 and I guess he used head gasket sealer, When I tore the top end apart it was clearly blow thru and the radiator got replaced when I seen the sealer and I flushed out the system. Only took me 2 days, 6 hours a day to do the work with the wife as a 2nd set of hands. I beat on the vehical for a year and decided it was up to the trip, thru Oklahoma I was doing about 110 mph for over 1 hour, and no issues.

Very very impressive man. Sounds like your car is more reliable than my 02 lol. Nah, I wouldn't hesitate one bit to drive anywhere in my car, barring ice. But then again, my car only has 70k.

well my trip back to nevada starts Sunday from Delaware, I made my trip thru NYC and Long island and still running with the bad Fan motor, LOL. But as long as I drive over 25 mph I dont over heat ( I havent overheated yet - came close tho in the Holland Tunnel Entrance) When I get to vegas and that 70 to 80 Degree Heat I think that might change. I will need to get a fan motor asap. I just Hope I keep getting over 27 mpg like I was. Gas prices are going up and it will cost me over $215 in fuel with the 2510 miles I need to cover. Wish me luck
