Hey guys, uh ya, I just practically noticed that I have locking lug nuts not the ones with the key but the ones where they have grooves on the outside that youd need a special wrench/socket for them. I guess the guy that sold the car to me forgot to mention them or give me what I needed to have to take them off. I went to Advanced today and the guy told me that its a factory lug nuts, he told me to goto Ford so ill go later on in the week when I get enough time but im just wondering if you guys had this kind of problem at all, maybe you guys could point me in the right direction?

I actually used a screw driver and a hammer and knocked mine loose, and bought a new set of lugs with locking nut, and it worked out fine. heating it up would help loosen it also

groves on the outside like a spline?? try smacking a 19-21mm socket on there with a hammer and remove them that way... or try sears or walmart( atleast where i work) has a lock removal set that they can pull them off for you

if you can find out what brand they are you can get a key for em perhaps. Ford may have a key that will work.

Hey guys. Ya I checked but there is no wrench for them and you cant take them off by key they have a special wrench or socket. I tried that 19/21 mm socket idea but it didnt work, those we're too big, I tried 17 mm no go and I got 5/8 which is the same as a spark plug socket and I tried hammering it in some and turning it but it didnt budge and I dont wanna strip it. I guess ill just have to goto a shop and have them take it off...

you could drive over here, and ill do it for free... you'd probably spend more money in gas though If they charge it shouldn't be too much.

I got a key but I assume its different as they all do.
Ever see then One Sockets for all, they form with pins, I forgot the name of them but its a universal socket and would work. I think its called the Gator Grip

hey i had locking lugs on my gst, and i lost the key. i searched high and low for a duplicate, but to no avail.
i finally went to Americas Tire Co, and they quoted me 10 bucks per lug to get them off(1 lock per tire, 4 tires, you do the math), so i was out of options and just said go ahead and prepared to get the rape. the guy said it would be about 40 minutes, cause they were backlogged. so i sat down, and not 2 minutes later do i hear them pull my car into the stall(i could tell it was mine, the tech had fun with setting the bov off and impressing his buddies). then 5 minutes later the tech comes out and hands me my keys, i grab for my wallet and he says "nah, dont worry about that dude, those suckers were a cinch, nice ride, keep it clean brotha". they gave me 4 replacement lugs for free also. that place kicks ass.
apparently they have a socket that sticks on and screws into the outside of the lug(like a reverse tap) that clamps onto the lug and screws it off. took them 5 minutes.

yea those kind kick ass that screw on...im borrowing one from my uncles place to get the ones off the welds on the car (needs tires). you put a gritty sand type shit on it, like drawing salve(more grip) then screw the socket on and break em loose.

if you take it to the ford dealer, or and reputable shop, also take your title so they don't think you stole the car
some shops are paranoid like that
