cut off my pipes

i have duals with 40 flowmasnters and i want to cut the pipes off after the muffler. A friend of mine has his V6 like that and i like have it sounds

but will i loose HP ?

Cutting the pipes after the mufflers prob will do little to modify engine output. It will change your sound(in car) drastically and you may get a slight exhaust smell in the cab at lights.

Btw incase you didn't know, people call them "turndowns" You can get a set of turndown tips welded in place which makes the car even louder inside.

car sounds fun with no muffler and turn down after y pipe, but that was because i had to run it that way to go and get the fitting for my muffler to weld in place. the flow 40s sound nice also, but getting rid of it to put in a gt take off, so i can have true duals

uh mmm i say u lose backpressure.. which sucks after 45.. haha i like mine to da redline... i had dumps b4.. and i can say.. it sucked pretty fat ass..

How can you lose enough backpressure to slow the car down UPTOP. Backpressure affects torque. Less means less restriction = more top end and vice versa. That's why Drag cars sometimes use open headers with race mufflers(Borla XR-1).

And he just wants to cut the pipes after the mufflers, that won't change it too much. Most backpressure will come from the mufflers and cats...

I just dumped my exhaust after the mufflers.....no difference in power, just alot louder inside. It's been like this for a week and I'm already ready for my new rear bumper so I can run the pipes out back, a little too much for me.

Right now I dump after my new X-pipe, and yes is loud inside the car
And you will hear my car a mile away, I will put on my flowmaster 50s when the snow goes away.

I had my exhaust (with glasspacks) the same as you intend doing .. it droned excessively loud inside the passenger compartment .. enough so as to give me a danm headache after 1/2 hour.
There are alot of things we can do to our stangs that seem great in short-term theory, but are altogether different in practice and practicality.
