2000 mustang stereo install??

I have a 2000 mustang v6 witht he factory stereo. The radio and cd player are seperate.(cd player is below the stereo) I need to know how to install an aftermarket cd player into this car? I know im supposed to leave the stereo in and just take out the factory cd player, but how do I hook up the wires???thanks

You will need a harness to connect from the aftermarket cd player to the factory system. I'll look up the number for you if a local stereo shop can't help you.

Yeh, best buy can do it right on up for ya. I believe if you buy a stereo from them install is free or a dollar or something...maybe I'm just imagining things.

O..and after reading your post, you really have on need for either factory unit after installing an aftermarket one. You can get a cubby hole for the bottom, or you can just leave it in there, or whatever. Most ppl go with a cubby hole.

you can buy a harness at like wal mart for 10-15 bucks, and the install is really easy, just need some male and female connectors and some eletrical tape. takes less than an half an hour to do so....I did mine

where can you get the little cubby holes? i just got a new strereo and now i have 2 of them...

so, if I go to walmart and buy the harness and some connectors, how exacly do I hook it up? Ive hooked up stereos in my other cars, but none of them looked like this mustang looks? Does anyone have a wiring diagram or anything like that, that could maybe help me out??? When I take the factory cd player out, there are only 2 connectors on the back of the thing! Now, looking at the back of my aftermarket cd player that I want to install, I have about 10-14 wires to connect to, but where the hell do I connect them too?haha

When you buy a wiring harness, it connects to your factory connector. And off that connector you will have 8 wires for speakers, 1 wire for dim, 1 wire for ground, 1 wire for constant, 1 wire for switched power, uhm...and several other wires. Normally you can just match up the colors and go.

yeah, labor is free. then they charge you for the harness. they charged me for 2 harnesses when i went from my Rampage(woot for kragen 100$ cd players) to my Poineer DEH8400mp deck in my Tbird. they charged me for a ford to aftermarket harness, then a aftermarket to pioneer harness. i was like "you guys ever hear of wire crimps?". they were like "well since you cut the ford harness off when putting in the rampage, its our job to put one back in, best buy regulations, then to use that one and hook that one up with the ford-pioneer adapter". i was like "thats gay, i never want to see the ford deck again in my life, so thats useless to me". their response "company policy". fuck that. that was 80 bucks for something i didnt feel like fucking with and thought it was free. ill never dick with them installing anything for me again. but it payed off, cause when i got the eclipse, i DID stick the ford deck back in so i could stick the pioneer one in the eclipse, so i was kinda like "eh, clever clever best buy guy."
