well, the things you mentioned are just a basic tune up. it'll help your car operate at peak stock performance, but it won't give you any gains
for performance gains, the place to start is dual exhaust. stock exhaust is like a huge bottleneck. getting rid of the bottleneck will let your engine breathe, which = more power. so find yourself a gt takeoff exhaust. shouldn't cost more than $400 for parts and labor, just find a good shop

Those things you listed are more maintenance than they are performance items but they are still good things to get for a car you just bought.
Just got to autozone and pick up motorcraft spark plugs. I would not get spark plug wires since your car is new.
Autozone or any autoparts store will carry the fuel filter you need as well just tell them your car year. As far as air filter you can get a K&N filter if you want a little more performance or you can opt for a complete cold air intake.
After you get those items it depends on your budget. Dual exhaust is a popular start.
Is you car a 5-speed or Automatic?

I would buy some GT take offs from ebay or a mustang classifieds area and just have them welded on with the stock mufflers. See if you like that or you want it louder and if you want it louder you can buy seperate mufflers after you get it on

^well, gt takeoffs are taken from mustang gts (hence the name) so they won't sound horrible... magnaflows also sound very decent on a stock v6, but they're a bit more expensive. i personally wouldn't get flowmasters though, but that's my personal taste. i don't like the raspy/drone sound they have
in fact, here's a couple of good deals on ebay...
gt takeoff exhaust 1
gt takeoff exhaust 2

What you do when you buy GT take offs is take the take offs to a muffler shop and they will weld them up to your car.

what about the magnaflows? they have a 3.8L v6 Dual Exit System but the tubing is 2.5, but on my car it is a 2.25. will that make a huge difference?

It will still work and it wont make a huge difference. Is it a true dual kit or does it attach to your y pipe

Things like that GT take offs are true duals. One pipe comes off the driver header and goes back to one muffler. One pipe comes off the passenger header and goes back to another header.
As it is right now you have one pipe off driver, one off passenger, but they combine into one pipe and go into one muffler.
True duals make two seperate pipes

for my exhaust, i called all the muffler shops in the phone book and asked what they had and what their prices were. I found that the mom-and-pop places had way better pricing than maxi or a chain like that. Also, the guy i went with had a better selection imo. I got the mufflers, all the custom piping, tips, and install for $240..and i love their sound too :thumbs2:

I have Magnaflow mufflers. They were like $60 each.
They are a straight through design so good performance.
In my opinion they sound pretty good too.

Gears would probably give the most noticable improvement. Go ahead and get a T-Lock while you're at it. It's expensive but it will give more than things like CAI, pullies, and all that stuff. I'd definately do the exhaust anyway. You won't feel a diference like you will with the gears, but at least it'll sound better.

Hey, you asked a question about the magnaflow system. I have the same one and it just bolts up to the Y pipe. Honeslty, I love it! The sound I get from the exhaust is wonderful. WHen it's idleing it's nice and queit, but it really wkes up when ya hit the gas. Anyway, it's reall y all about personal taste when you're deciding on a muffler and exhaust for your car. Just find a bunch of people with different set ups and see what you like.
As for other mods, after the exhaust go with a CAI, under drive pullies, new rear end gears (4.10's with an automatic) and a posi lok(t-lok), tune the car and you'lll be all set! not sure what you'll be looking at for HP, but you'll love it!
