i drove a fox,im looking in to buying them but this was not the one im thinking about buying, and i just wanted to make sure things with it are normal since i have no base for compairson at all.
the TC seemed not to pull nearly as hard as my 03 does, it didnt really roll i had to give it gas, later on it felt like that changed. another thing was, it didnt seem to want to idle all that well, the idle was going up and down a couple hundred RPMs.
and it doesnt down shift like my car does, it seemed just to try and pull from the same gear, i was merging and i felt like gunning to see what it could do (there were 3 ppl in the car) and i jumped on it and it got up and went a little but it feels like i had a lot more power then that. i know it didnt down shift, could it be b/c i accidently had it in D and not over drive? i kno it should just keep it out of 4th in my car but is that diffrent for old Fox bodys? was i stuck in third? but when i got on it from a stop the tires (they were actually quite big, im guessing someone had put 17s on it) just lit up, i couldnt keep them from breaking out and the car seemed to have a lot more there. and im guessing with just me in the car it would do better as well as if the car didnt have 145,000 city miles on it.
it honestly didnt feel that much more powerful then my mustang, but i did have three ppl in the car, and the 6er would never have the back of the car break out like that thing did and im guessing the fox had 3.08s in it too. could i fix some of these issues if the fox im thinking about buying has them and granted the one i like had about 1/2 the miles on it, but would a shift kit help? thanks guys for all your help

sounds like the tranny is takign a crap, dont buy an auto anyway they are sloppy, slow, and many other things, especially in the fox bodies.
Thats the second question people ask anyay lol. Is it a v8, is it a 5 speed, no on either one of those accounts = bad choice lol (so it seems)

see the one i want to buy is such a great deal that i'm not really worried about it being an auto, see its 2500 for a 1991 convt with a 5.0 with 60k miles on it. so its a really good deal, i would want a 5 spd but for that price im not going to honestly care. plus its never going to be my daily car, its just a weekend car or a nice weather car.

that car sounds pretty worn out, my 5.0/5spd fox felt ALOT faster than my dads 01 v6.

ive rod in stock gt's from that year set... they are slow stock. If its a good deal then go for it, but be prepared to do a total overhaul sooner or later.

Get one with a nice body to it then just redo the engine as a project while still driving the sixxer.

Crap. The only thing good about the Systemax kit is the intake manifold. The cam is rather crappy, the heads are pieces of crap and its not worth the money. If you buy a kit, go with the trick flow kit, its a far superior setup.
an automatic fox isnt going to feel too fast, also consider they got 2.73's from the factory, the vert weighs more, the AOD is far from a performance tranny out of the box, and then having a few people in the car...ehhh
if it didnt downshift like you thought it would, look under the hood, and look for the TV cable. Basically, its on the underside of the throttle body, should be right next to the throttle cable. Make sure its still connected. The clips sometimes (alot of times) break, and when that happens, the tranny doesnt downshift properly, it doesnt shift properly, and the tranny usually burns up.
I say if its a good deal, buy it as a project.
