That is strange because the fuel injection system we have auto primes the injectors. Backin the old days if you ran out of fuel in a injected car it would require priming the injectors.
Check the fuses you might have blown the fuel pump fuse installing the Stereo

Look in your trunk, when you're looking in from the back, on the left side, closest to the bumper is a cut in the trunk carpeting. There is a button behind that, that is your fuel pump reset switch. Push that back down, and you should be set to go. BTW, it's always safer to at least have the car off when working with the electrical system.

the fuel pump reset switch didn't work, my brothers car (93 celica) was recently doing about the same thing, it would turn over but wouldn't start. he replaced his ignition coil in his distributor and was good to go, could this be a problem?

Well..I say check your fuses. Couldn't hurt, and might save you some money if that's what it is.

You can hear it cut on in a ford...if you can make the buzzer shut up. I can hear it switch on in my car. But yeh...chevy's sit there and freaking hum, drives me crazy.

thats your fuel pump priming, its normal
If yall think chevys are bad, you should hear my vortech t-rex pump, it sounds like a civic with a fart can when it primes.
