ipod + controller or mp3 changer for car?

Since my car's stereo doesn't have mp3 capability like I thought I was getting, I am getting pretty bored of the same 4 cds over and over. All my music is on mp3 discs in my car. I am trying to decide between the Mazda 6 disc in-dash changer that does have mp3 capability for around $500. Or buying an iPod and the Harmon Kardon universal adapter for my car for around $400-425. I can't decide which would be better.

Stereo:
clean looks and no one could tell
dash is already programmed for it to be there
only holds 6 mp3 discs = 4.7gig

iPod:
30 gigs
portability
Probably won't look 100% clean
Won't be able to control tunes thru radio or steering wheel controls.


What do y'all think?

i thought that if you got the real translator that hooks the ipod into the rear inputs, you can use the radio controls to change the ipod songs through it.

but id get the actual cd changer. unless you have the ipod already, or really want to get one anyways for when youre NOT in your car(like a road trip with the parents and they listen to crap).

I wanted my ipod songs in my car too so I bought a new kenwood deck that is ipod ready, then bought kenwoods cord to connect it to the aux. port on the back of the deck, ended up costing about 325 or so but the deck I bought is normally 450, I got it for 246 shipped. The ipod thing was 76 shipped.

I also wanted an aftermarket deck so I could install my XM radio again that I had in my old car.

The Mazda has a weird double DIN stereo, so no aftermarket would look good.

you can get a Double Din in-dash DVD player/screen. thats what im going to get, cause i hate the look of when you take a DD reciever and stick a single din into it with the kit, and tou have that cubby hole that always accumulates useless junk and is always dirty no matter what.
