2000 Mustang GT Auto

Hello all,
My son's 2000 GT is staying in second when the selector says drive. Is there a simple adjustment I can do or does the dealer need to fix?

First off welcome to the site, and secondly...I believe it is most likely an electrical problem with the tranny, but might be a mechanical. Maybe someone will chime in here in a few with a better answer lol.

if you take the shifter out you will see the slider that selects the gears, its probably a cheap part to replace, if not the whole shifter. Shouldnt be to hard to do either.
