Help me spot the poser...

There is a Mustang at Calhoun (local college) that looks to me to be a GT.
I can't honestly say I noticed before, but today I noticed that he has Cobra side emblems and a SVT trunk badge. So I can't be sure if this is something new or if the've always been there.

Now, I have looked at the inside, parked next to it, and noticed it does not have the pillar pods for gauges, therefore, it cannot be a `03 up Cobra.
But, it's color is Mineral Grey and I thought that color was relatively new, like at least newer than `02.

I do know that the `99-`01 Cobra's were designated by a stock pony in front and Cobra fender emblems and trunk emblems, but this car otherwise looks stock GT even down to the anthracite bullitts. So, is there any other way of knowing other than popping the hood? I thought they still came with different wheels or some sort of body difference other than badges on the pre `02's. I would just assume that it is a pre `02 Cobra, but the owner is a jerk who would misbadge a car just to get more attention and I don't want to accuse him of not having one when I'm sure pre `02 owners get that a lot.

Is it a 5-speed?

Does it have bullit rims or the 5 spokes my car has or are they different.

The front bumper is a give away for the Cobra. Different that the stock GT's

It should have Cobra seats.... white face guages with SVT on them.... SVT on the dash....

mineral gray = 01-early 03, then they switched to DSG, except for the 03+ cobra, they kept both mineral gray and dsg.they also only made a 99/01/03/04 cobra for the 99+ body.

I haven't really peered in to see what tranny it has, just that it doesn't have the pillar pods.

It's got the anthracite bullits, which really throws me off because I thought even the `99-`01 Cobras got dif wheels.

Don't know about seats either, but I think they are the regular GT seats.

I'm positive it's not a `03 up and I can't remember if the pre `02's had a the stock GT bumper...

I did know that about the years tho because I've been saying I dont know if it's a pre `02 or a `03-`04...

haha owned, theres some guy around here with a gt hood, pre02 cobra front, stock v6 rear bumper with duals put under it(duals are new he used to have the single dump),and cobra fender emblems haha

on the gauge cluster as with all the other 94-04 mustangs. They dont have any extra added gauges, they deleted one to make room for the boost gauge... but they didnt add any new gauge locations.

FYI the A pillars on 03 up cars are funky and wont work with A pillar gauges unless swaped to a previous year, you can now narrow it down a bit more.

Now I'm pissed off. I can't believe I didn't know that...I wonder where I got that from? It must be a popular mod than.

The guy also has the stock GT side scoops too, I just remembered.

03/04 cobras have the same side scoops as the GT but the insert is different. The 99 cobra also just says MUSTANG and not COBRA as the later ones do. The tail lights are also yellow/orange on the bottom for 99-01 cobras as they are their turn signals. They are back to stock for 03/04 cobras though.
