Just bought an 06 V6 Manual

Last Tuesday I picked up our 06 V6 Manual, $19,900 total. Tungsten Gray exterior, dk charcoal interior, 5spd, deluxe coupe, no other options.
Now what everyone wants to hear, what is the guy with a 10sec 2000 V6 going to do to his new one?
The car is very nice in stock form, but it NEEDS mods. The rev limiter is too low and I hate the throttle closing near red line, it makes it hard to really nail shifts when coupled with the throttle delay the fly by wire cars have. It is a very quick car though, it should run high 14s stock, we should find out soon.
So the first thing is a tune. Next comes a VMP CAI. I am going to test out UD crank, WP, and alt pullies on my dyno. Then I am going to try out some exhaust solutions and see what makes power.
I am going to think about manufacturing shorty headers, I have to get a hold of some stock 4.0L headers.
I am going to seriously think about a TT kit. I think it can be done with the stock suspension, no tube K like on my car. I want to keep this car immaculate. I am not going to turn this car into anything crazy though. It will be Rebeccas DD.
I need to find a GT manual rear end with 3.55s.
I will look at the intake and TB situation, to see if there is any more power to be had there.
These are the ratios of the new 5spd manual trans 3.75, 2.19, 1.40, 1, 0.72, I can't say I like the 1st gear, it goes by real quick. The stock shifter in this thing sucks, and I usually don't mind stock ones too much.
I want to get it into the 13s NA before going TT.

I beleive you mean Evolve. I don't know how you missed that one, since its basically the root word to your own site.
Anyway, nice car man, good luck with it, post your progress as you go, it would be nice to see.

I remember in 01, my base model with deluxe package mustang and mach 460 (440 add on option) was 15600 (msrp for that year i may be off a couple hundred) they sure have raised the price on EVERYTHING not just the base models since then...

Nice car!! and Nice price!! I got my 05 for $19,600 back in August of 2005. It's a good thing that you went with the manual cause the automatic tranny shifts like a Buick Centery in the new mustang.
As far as headers, people say the stock ones are fine. They say there is no need to put aftermarket ones on unless your SC or TC. But there was a magazine that got 17 Hp with a set of JBA headers and an axle back muffler on a I belive a stock 4.0L.
Intake, they have plenty of CAI's ya just haft to look. Popular ones right now for the 05 06 are the AEM Brute force or the C&L Intake. No throttle boddies yet, just spacers. No cams or heads yet eather.
You will want to by eather a SCT or a Diablo sport tuner for $409.00. You will be able to change what fuel you will want to run 91 92 octane, I think you can open up the throttle a bit to. and also tune it to your exsisting mods. As for a rev limiter, I thought only the automatics had them. I shift at 5800 RPM on a dime and it has no problem achieving that rpm or shifting into gear.( I noticed after my CAI the car breathed a lot better in the higher rpms,) The shifter is a little bit rough at first but after a few miles it should break in nicely.
I think the rear end you have now will hold up fine unless you plan to do like 500 HP or something crazy like that. You can just rplace the stock 3.33's or 3. 31's for a 3.73 or a 4.10 ( they suggest 3.73 for manuals if you still want to drive on the highway) then get a ford tlok or a Detriot tt to get traction to that other wheel. I know the Ford tlok hold up to 400 HP.
Can't wait to see some of your Dyno results cause you have a manual. A lot of people have Auto's. The Auto's are about 167 - 170 Hp at the Rear wheel and the Manuals are about 177-180 at the rearwheel from what I've heard.
Im working on getting my gears & tlok installed with a custum tune from the SCT.

Not much I believe it's just the Grill and a 17in stock wheel instead of 16's and I think something in the suspension meybe not sure. Nothing with the motor or interior is diff.

I think I've got the tuning covered Price and quality of the tuning product varies depending on where you get it from.
I am designing and manufacturing my own CAI, the stuff out there now is too expensive for what you get and the quality isn't that great. I have dyno tested 4 of them + 4 of my own designs.
I had a stock 05 with fake duals on my dyno and it make 199rwhp, the manuals seem to do really well. Another friend had a car make similar #s with the same mods.
I agree, headers may not be worth much, but I think 5-7rwhp from a bolt on is something. Especially after you have done all the easy and cheap bolt ons.
I am not going to put a lot of gear in this car, because if it does go turbo it won't need it. 1/2 the reason I want the GT rear end is because of the t-lok, and if this car does go turbo the 7.5 won't hold up to 400 ft/lbs of tq.
I can make the 5spd auto shift very nice...nothing like a grandma car at all.

nice car!! IMO I like the 60* OHC 4.0s better than the OHV 3.8/9s.. very smooth and much more refined.. hopefully it responds and handles modifications as well as the 3.8 did! tungsten gray on charcoal interior is also the color combo I'd pick if I were to get a new mustang..
and yeah, the v6 automatics feel surprisingly strong through first and second, no?

Justin, my car is at 360 TQ on the juice, you think I should go with an 8.8 swap? I currently have 3.73's and a FR TLOK. I was going to get a girdle and panhard relocation bracket.
I appreciate any advice you can give. Can't wait to see what you do with that car.

If you dont go to the track you should be ok~ but it may eventually break. I would just start thinking about it in the back of my mind, you can sell your 7.5 with gears/tlok for a good price and put that toward an 8.8 eventually.
