The factory says run the car with 87 octane only.
I've got a diablo tune for 93 octane w/ cai.
The drag track I got to has 100 octane and higher.
I saw a V6 05' getting some 100. I didn't ask him what he had done to his car.
Anyway, the question is, would it be safe for me to race with 100?
Maybe I could change my tune to run with the higher octane.

if its tuned for 93 run 93, there is no point in running higher octane with the same tune.

Do not race with 100 if your car is tuned for 93. Waste of money

It's safe but a waste of money. Running a higher octane than your tune is for won't do much. Running a lower octane i.e. 87 with a 93 tune could cause a knock so avoid that.

running with higher octane won't help much at all unless your car has serious spark knock (and in turn knock retard) issues, but I haven't heard of any 4.6 NAs with this problem

Using a higher octane without getting a tune is not only a waste of cash but can cause build up deposits that your engine can't burn. Which will lead to needed to run this octane to keep it from dieseling (running after shutting off the ignition)in the first place. (Deposits form causing hot spots, and pre-igniting the fuel before the Spark plug is suppose to.)Called detonation or pinging.
Remember Higher octane gas actually burns SLOWER or cooler then lower octane fuels. Using this will cause the fuel that is not being burned to build up in your heads, valves, pistons, etc...... So the trick is not what you think is best, but actually matching the octane to what your timing, ignition, and engine can actually burn in the compression stroke.
