Youre telling him to go to the junkyard, and replace the most important part of his braking system with one off of a car the same age as his, and most likely wrecked? Im VERY suprised.
Get a new one from the parts store. Dont skimp out on brakes.
Im about to drop almost 500 bucks on brakes for my car.

Just keep in mind that you can get rebuilt ones with warranties.

just a FYI, if it recently started leaking badly.. it could have been leaking slowly before.. if so it could have damaged the brake booster as well
brake fluid is viscious stuff, it'll strip powdercoating..
and don't get it on your hands.. its hygroscopic (absorbable by your skin..) and goes right to your liver..
