Mine is an '88 T-Bird now with a Mustang GT 5.0 H.O.,Explorer intake,Locker rear with 3.55 gears,Mustang headers and h-pipe,Mustang seats,Cougar dash and console. On the work bench ready for installation are GT40 heads,1 5/8 shorty headers,65mm throttlebody and spacer, tranny cooler, fuel pump, and an off road h-pipe on the way. Those pieces are my spring break activities while the kids are out of school (plus, the kids are cheap labor, lol).
Wow sorry I missed this post
that sounds like a neat project.. quick 5.0 tbirds are rare in my parts

T-Bird update......................I have sold the GT40 heads due to the fact they won't work with my flat top pistons.I have a set of ported and polished E-7's now.I installed a 2 1/2 inch off road x-pipe,BBK shorties, and warlock race mufflers with the built in cut outs.I removed the 20th anniversary Cougar turbine wheels and installed a set of Turbo Coupe wheels that I polished. The upper Explorer intake, steering pump bracket (I/m smog and a/c delete),the belt tensioner, factory aluminum valve covers, and the 3G alternator are all polished. The polished parts don't make the car faster, but they sure look good.I also did a digital speedo mod so my car is capable of reading up to 199mph instead of the factory 85.It's got a '99 Bullitt Mustang gas lid,and I notched the rear bumper and bumper cover so I could raise the exhaust tips up into the bumper like the new T-Birds and the Marauder.Nice touch if I say so myself.I get to say that I was the first with that mod.I've tried and tried to post pics, but it never works.I can send pics through the e-mail,though.If anybody needs to see the engine or whatever, let me know and I will e-mail you.Or,if someone can take my pics and post them, that would be awesome.BUT,that's where the 'Bird stands now.She has surprised a LOT of Mustang and import owners. It's great to see the faces on thse "Fast and the Furious" wanna-bes when the 'Bird spanks them.

I don't know what it will run as a five speed yet. Anyone have any guesses?

The car has 187,000 miles on the car and about 5,000 on this engine. I have a 347 in the works by Thumper Performance of Orange Park, FL. It's a forged piston & rod, Edelbrock head, X303, basic motor. It should be in the car by February of next year.
I've had a ball with this car and don't think I'll ever sell it. It's just your basic, senior citizen transportation.

Don't worry about that. No matter what you have, there's always someone who has more or can go a bit faster. I've had my Mustang for fourteen years. Most of the mods have taken over seven years to put together.
When I was fifteen I told my Mom I wanted a Corvette (the NEW 1963 models had just come out) and she said, "Those are expensive, you might have to wait until you are 30 to get a car like that." I remember telling her, "Well, I would be so old then I couldn't enjoy it!"
Well, I'm almost 60 years old now, but I can promise you, each modification I make to this car is just as sweet as if I were fifteen.
So, hang in there, keep adding a bit at a time, shop smart, and you'll get there before you know it.
Good luck,
Jim
