A friend of mine that has an 04 v6 said every time she starts up her car it makes a wierd growl like noise. It only gets worse when she turns on like the ac or heat. And its worse when the car sits for a while(like startin it in the mornin). It only lasts for a few miles and then goes away, and it doesnt vibrate or shake, just makes the noise. She has intake and exhaust, but i dont think thats got anything to do with it. And the growl comes from the engine bay not the exhaust. She said she took it to ford and they claimed it was cause she "modified her engine". Anybody heard of this before?

if you could, what do you mean by growl? or if you could get a sound clip of it it would help out a lot.

Well i would, but i havent even seen it yet. She told me about this yesterday and i'm supposed to go check it out tomorrow. So I posted up what i knew to see if anybody else has had this problem so i know of stuff to check for when I finally do get to see it. So sorry, but right now "growl" is the best i can do. Even though i know it doesnt help much.

being an 04 i hope its still under warranty, if its not easy to fix you can just take it to the dealership

She said she already did that and they told her it was cause she modified her engine, and from what i can tell, they basically blew her off. Maybe she dealt with some a**hole at the dealership cause that seems kinda out of character.

She has a K&N intake and exhaust, I explained all this is in the first post. But from what she is sayin about the noise gettin worse when she turns on like the ac or heat makes me think its a belt or pulley or somethin.
