Hey, well today I got bored and tried installing my headers back on to the stang.
The stock headbolts made it alot freaking easier. I have to kind of slide the headers in behind the ARP headstuds. This makes it very difficult to install them because I can't pull the thing back a little before to get all the bolts threaded.
I spent almost an hour on the driver side, trying to get the gasket, threads, header and bolt all lined up. So I get 4 of 6 bolts started, working insdide out, but the last 2 are not going. I think my headers are warped. The other two primaries lined up beautifully but the 3rd sits about a millimeter too high up on the head. This is trying to make my bolts crossthread, and I hate that.
Does anyone think I will have a sealing problem if...
a)I use the same set of headers, get them to fit at the heads, will they leak at the collectors you think?
b)Could I use gasket sealant on them? I know they get real hot, but would high-temp black or orange be ok?
On the side, does anyone happen to have a set of stock headers/bolts/collector studs? I still need to buy the studs and one bolt to fully install them. I don't want to have to replace them but maybe I will just buy longtubes....
