they will probably leave it nearly identical to what it is now just change the exterior~ to sharpen it up and give it more flavor. About what they did in 99~ a bit of a hp/tq increase and a price increase as well im sure. Dont expect much because you wont get it.

A friend of mine has a book which compares both cars (He's a Chevy fan) and he was saying that once the 5.0 got FI, it blew the Chevy engines away. So, up until the LT1 was introduced, the Mustang was doing well in the speed race.

I would really like to see the new mustang look like the 69, 70's retro styling. One biggest thing that made the older cars look so cool is that the roof extends all the way to the back...I think it's very sporty.

The 2005's and 2006's behind is somewhat thicker than the front end, with the exception of the gt500 cobra mustang because the gt cobra has a larger grill section. So a big, thick trunk section gives the current 2005's mustangs a matchbox, or suzuki gsxr's with the tails sticking up, kind of feel...which has a sporty but not muscle effect. One thing that's bad about the old car's design, is that it appears to be too long, thus look clumsy. But then, back then all cars were that way, look at the older Dodge challenger vs the future one.

I don't expect them to do to much. Maybe add a side scoop grille or something. Maybe a few more HP and maybe a different V6.

I don't expect them to change to much because the whole idea of the Mustang is "Mustang does it." Ford is gonna give you just enough to either help you get started drag racing, road racing, show car, ect.

I think Ford is gonna do just enough to kill SVT due to cost.

I really want to see this happen too.
I'm sick and tired of the 05 & 06 boring looking body style. It's not bad looking, but it looks too long and too generic. The front end and the rear end look too thick if you measure from the bottom of the bumpers to the top of the hood and to the top of the rear trunk. It's too thick looking.

I hope that Ford puts out a retro looking 69 Mustang fastback body style. The 69 & 70 fastback body style is the BEST Mustang body style. I hope that Ford brings it back.

I agree with you about the 05 & 06 Mustangs. I think that both the front end and the rear end is TOO thick. Ford neeeds to tone down the thickness of the front and rear end and make it look more like the 69 & 70 Mustang style.

- GET RID OF THAT CHEAP PLASTIC HONEYCOMB GRILL CRAP that they've insisted on using since 1999.
- Lose a minimum of 500 lbs (these things are heavy friggin pigs now and it only seems to be getting worse)
- An optional 6-speed manual for the V8s is a must!
- A true fastback design similar to the 69/70 Stangs would look awesome.
- The 302 Cammer would be AWESOME to see.
- Like someone else said, give it "hips". The convertibles are so flat! Give the car some profile.

Things I'd like to see, but know they probably won't consider:
- I'd LOVE to see the Mustang come out with a targa top option, but that's a little too pro-active for Ford because they might actually have to ENGINEER something new for a change.... god forbid (I'm still amazed the Mustang finally has coil-over suspension!)
- I'd like to see more wheel options - not just design wise, but width wise. Give the V8 buyers an option of going up to something like 295 rubber in the rear because ever since 1999, the cars look so strange from the rear with just 235 rubber.

I hate cleaning the honey comb crap they need to do something about that

It definatly needs to be much lighter, the convertible should not go over 3500lbs

A 6 speed might be nice but there is no real advantage~ for 99% of the people that buy mustangs. The gearing winds up the same, same gas milage, same everything. If ford would make the tranny have good gears as the GM and Viper spec t-56 it would be nice.

You wont be seeing the 302 cammer motor, the car has to pass every growing emission laws so the government is alot of the reason for what you see in them

I would like to see a targa top, T-Tops look getto 80s so none of that... at least a factory sunroof.

The mustang definatly needs more customizable options from performance packages to luxury packages. The aftermarket takes care of a ton of that but most wont touch their car after purchased and the way ford is going they will have all the aftermarket companies shut down anyway so they will need something to offer.

This is what I would LIKE to see on the GT version, or the Mustang that would ultimately compete with the fastest Camaro and/or Challenger:

- 5.0L+ V8 engine
- 500HP+
- 0-60 in 3.9-4.6
- Lighter, by about 500 lbs.
- wider
- lower suspension, by about 2-3 inches

If all this happens, it would proably start somewhere at $35,000.

Id love the car to be mixed between the "new edge" style and the early 70s mustang. I wont care too much about the design I just want it to look "mustang". I want it to have the same style interior with a better 3 spoke steering wheel, maybe a few more curves in the inside. I wanna see stock 18" wheels, and a diet plan. shed 300-500lbs without sacrificing affordability. no color gauges. built-in adjustable shifting light in the tac would be kinda neat. I think ford should make a modular 5.0l exclusively for the mustang and leave 4.6/5.4l motors for the other vehicle.

How about a speedometer that reads alot higher than 140 mph, when you look at the stock speedo on the knew Mustangs it makes it look slow. A 200 mph speedometer would look cool even thow it wouldn't go that fast, kinda like a GTO.

And bring back the Cobra, the Shelby GT500 is not a Cobra, its a Shelby even though it has Cobra badges wheres the name. Maybe put a Teminator engine in to make it cheaper than the Shelby. I dout this will happen thow as SVT is probably dead.

Have upgraded models (IE)Cobra's/Mach's/Boss/ etc but keep the price's competive,a $50.000 mustang to me is still a bit much.

2) 4 valve engines in the v8 AND v6 (if nissan and toyota can do it, so can ford)
3) make it a true 2 seater (no one can fit in those little ass back seats anyway)
4) hard top vert (all verts) and targa top coupe (optional)
5) standard 8.8 in v6 and v8 (higher displacement gets you higher gears)
6) IRS as an option
7) dual exhaust on v6 and v8 (one manufacturing line for one type of exhaust = cheaper)
8) more specialty models with fewer numbers for fewer years (3000 mach 1s, 3000 boss, 3000 bullitts, 5000 cobras... 2 model years out of 5)
9) MORE factory upgrade/customization options for all models
10) MORE POWER and PERFORMANCE!

i wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for all that on a mustang

As Far As The 6 Speed Trany Goes For The Mustang, I Would Rather Not, Because Every Time I Raced A 6 Speed Camaro Early Years, In My 86 Mustang Gt 5 Speed 200 Hp Vs 260 Hp Camaro I Spanked Them Every Time Until I Hit 3rd Gear & Then That Is When The 260hp Vs My 200 Hp Showed Up. The Gm 6 Speed 1st Gear Is To Low & That Is Where I Would Pull Hard On Them & They Would Have To Play Catch Up After That. Correction Borge Warner 6 Speed If Iam Not Mistaken.

the ford's spec 6 speed is a nice tranny but the gearing is a bit off... they dont realy capitalize on the ability to have 5th and 6th set to good overdrives to REALLY help the gas milage. Other than that its just a matter of the right gearing~ My t-56's gears are a bit to close together for my likes... but the rpm's at 70mph isnt bad with 3.55's out back.. im pushing 2050 or so at 70 in 6th... just imagine a .50 gear instead of a .63.

Ford Has Produced An Awd Mustang, A Fergasen Formula. It Was Based On The 69 428ci Mach 1. If Iam Not Mistaken It Was Produced Or Sold In Great Britain. I Do Not Remember, I Read The Article A Long Time Ago & Was Floored. Extremely Rare & Pricey. I Have Never Come Across Any Person That Knows Alot About Mustangs That Has Ever Known Of Such A Mustang. You Probably Can Find Info On Line.

Let's go with a quicker car. I don't care how you do it, just do it! (a 13.5 in the 1/4 would be nice) And let's ditch the weird tire sizes too, ok guys? 235 55 17's? WTF.

Ideas on the interior? Here's some ideas:


Forget the "mycolor" stuff and go LED (But please, not green!)


See above? Comes from the Fusion. I love the instrument pointers/needles and also how the outer edges of the gauges are chrome trimmed. Very tasteful. Just give us full intrumentation and numbers on the gauges.

Exterior:


OK. Above. Move the scoop that's behind the front wheel in front of the rear wheel and reverse the direction of it. Picture the rear 1/4 windo 1/2 the size it is in that photo.


ABOVE. Similar concept, but have a more pronounced airdam and a "V" shape on the front end and pronounced wind splitter. Headlights that are more rounded. Less bling than on that Lexus above-- just think of the SHAPE and the headlight and grill orientation. Here's another example of rounded headlights:

ABOVE: Again, think SHAPE. A much smaller grill, but the same type of fender treatment and less bling.

REAR:

ABOVE: See how the exhaust tips follow the lines of the bumper? That looks great! In fact, the whole rear of that car looks great.


ABOVE: Amber turn signals are cool.

The only other suggestions are these: try not to make any spoilers you add look like, well, add ons. Make them look like a part of the car or don't put them on at all. I liked the last version, but this retro stuff can't and shouldn't last forever!

with the addition of the new Camaro and Challenger, fords displacement department needs a revamp.

5.4L Shortblock
Revised 3v Heads
6 Spd
3.73" Gears

5.4L in all GT's. 3V heads are a definate step up, but they still could breathe better, so a set of revised 3V heads/cams combo would ultimately pep the GT right up. i think no less than 350hp/350tq should be the goal. strapped to a close-ratio 6spd and a rear gear ratio thats designed to make the most out of the engines rpm range and the 6spd.

then exterior wise, go with something modern. Retro is going to tank after the challenger/camaro is released, those cars are going to put everything retro to shame. id like to see some design cues taken from the 99-04's and elaborated more, like the would have if they never went reto in 05.

and lighten the goddamn car up! its a mustang, not a mercedes, it does not need 20 layers of soundproofing.

then there should also be a Go-Between, for the huge fucking void between a GT and GT500, with out a Shelby price tag. possibly a 5.4L/4V/6spd combo thats 400hp/400tq. a interior void of all the creature comforts, and a more race friendly suspension, maybe even IRS out back. motor would have forged internals, ready for bewst/nitrous. priced at 35-40k after markup, to take a stab at the challenger/camaro sales, and bring some better n/a power back to the mustang stable.

werd. the 4-5th gear shift is awesome, great for cruising around the city at 45mph, but 5-6th gear transition on the freeway isnt much of a difference. agreed, 6th could be a little more overdriven, as youre probably not going to be using it for anything else BUT freeway cruising. i was kinda upset when i realized i tached 2500rpm's doing 80mph as opposed to 1900-2k doing 80 in the GT.

Well, apparently trucks and Mustangs are two things Ford still does right, they say they sell more of them than anything else anyhow. Personally I like the retro look, that is why I own an 06 with pony pkg, lol. I was like 14 when the first Mustang came out, have loved them since, the Mustang II was a Pinto in disguise, but the rest have been great!
