OK, i was changing my oil the other day, and i looked up and noticed i could see my intake filter (i have a fenderwell C.A.I. kit) and it gave me an idea. I took a piece of Gutter Tubing and cut it about 18" and then i bent it at a 90 and mounted it in the passenger side bumper vent where it would aim up at my air filter. Does this make me a genius or has anybody else tried anything like this?

I beg to differ:
I did this on my 89 GT and it worked WELL!
I had a K&N in stock airbox and ran 4" metal dryer tube into the
side of the box, sealed up and used the open foglight hole as the
outer scoop. It helped across the board, but for sure, avoid water!

I did that a long time ago, and all it did was destroy my MAF. Even in dry weather I don't recomend it because lot's of tiny rocks and debris get up in there. i know this from experience. better to just take it out and not risk anything.

I did it once and I will not do it again. Its not safe at all to your car and second it is damn near imposible not to keep the filter dry during the rainy season.

OK, thanks for the tips, and as for the 89 GT, maybe it worked on it due to the Body Style Differences, I dunno, just shootin in the dark

Well, I do have a really good diea of what I am doing and I would not suggest
anyone set one up that could ingest water. Mine was very similar to aftermarket
Ram Air kits and I piped it in to the stock airbox with the filter. With it like this
and a filter in place, it would be darn near impossible to destroy a MAF.
