Well this last saturday and sunday me and my buddy Chris started working on the gears.
Now you may be asking why Chris is on the tailgate, and what is the point of this pic
well WHOOPS!!!:duh

got it back up on two stands at least...this is where we went and bought more stands

our first casualty of the day
a year and a half after the titanic occured...there was still a bit of water left over inside...well quite a bit. but amazingly for water logged 18 y/o parts, every thing is super clean, no corrosion, no excessive wear, etc

us starting to pull the guts out (yes we wore nitrle gloves, the work for the Air Force i do, i learned to wear gloves)

axle shafts out

this little gem of a kit came in handy more then once...too bad i gotta return it when done.. i cant afford the 100 bucks right now

all that is left is the pinion

this carrier bearing was a bitch...took a lot of hitting with a mallet, chisel, torch, grinder, cussing, and slide hammer to get it off

its been abused

very abused

carrier put back together with new bearings and new ring gear

as she has been sitting since sunday

in 1 of my 15 trips to Oriely's this weekend i did find these though..nice addition

and before you ask what this blanket is for

let me explain...sometime between opening the tailgate and finishing on sunday, the motor seem to have gone out...assuming from when we dropped it on saturday, we jarred something screwy
