Is it just the tires that are bigger or are the wheels bigger too? The tires could be they replaced the rears with cheap tires as they couldn't afford others. Or, the previous owner was stupid and rotated the tires with staggered tires.

some do wider rims and tires out back for looks and traction but... going by what you said its just the tire... which is rather stupid to do.

Yah is it just the tires or the wheels too? If just the tire sizes are different (say 295 in the front and 275 in the rear) you could just swap the front wheels to the back.

I think it needs new tires anyhow, should they be the same size or is there a reason for useing different sizes?

Its has really no traction right now with haveing the smaller ones in the back, the wheel is larger in the front. Will it help to have larger in the back?

As far as size goes thats up to you. Don't go too big. I agree with everyone above it's not going to matter much. Go for what makes you happy. I would think for gas mileage it would be good to have the same front & rear.

Take the larger wheels that are currently in the front and put them in the rear. Move the wheels currently in the rear to the front. Replace whatever tires you need to replace with correct sizes. Many people do have smaller rims in the front and an inch larger in the back. For example, a 17x9 in the front and an 18x10 in the back. I personally am not too fond of it, but it won't hurt too much to have it that way. Just keep in mind that you can't rotate tires when the wear out.

yea the wider rims go in the back of course. If you have wider rims in the back vs the front you really should USE that extra space and put a wider tire on them. I think its a really dumb idea to buy wider rims for the back of your car just to run the SAME size tire thats in the front but some do it lol.
