I have a 1996 3.8L. After wrecking it and losing my ability for a Cobra motor I could have purchased. I want to start moding it to make a sleeper. So what mods should I start with? And is it even worth the effort anymore to mod a v6 or just buy a GT?

Next question, I herd that you can remove parts off of like 97 F150's or whatnot to mod the 3.8L into a 4.2L. Is that true? If so how would I do that and what would I need?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

there are single port v6s (95-98 v6 motors) running 10 second passes, so you have the ability to do what you like. You can use the crank/rods from a 4.2L F-150 truck and stroke the engine to 4.2L there are many many things you can get from ported heads to forged internals, etc etc. You just need to decide what your goals are and what you want to get out of the car.

I want to have the performance/hp to stay with the v8s GT’s and annoying Camaro's, plus enough to crush the imports that always want to race my v6 mustang. I am new to the tuning part of my car. I have rebuilt from a wreck now its time to work on performance. Thanks for any help I can get.
