Well, I was successful in getting the judge to give me driving school, again. I feel like I could probably teach the class, now. I've got to register and complete the class before April 15th. Anybody else on here going to be taking driving school in Decatur before then?

lol this must be an alabama thing, ive never heard of it up here, you either pay your ticket or pray the cop never shows up to contest it, what exactly is driving school? like you sit and learn the drivers training basics again?

It's another way they punish you. The judge writes off the ticket, so it's just like being found innocent (no points on your record or any of that). Then you've got to pay for the class ($35) and court costs ($110). So it costs you about the same as just paying your ticket without all the other negative reprocussions (higher insurance rates). You've just got to go sit through the docket and then attend the three hour course. I think I'm gonna do it from 9am-12pm on Saturday the 18th.

dude sorry about the school stuff. It's funny though, I got really stupid 2 years ago. I was drinking took a curve at about 90 ran down the side of an 8 foot embankment, took out 30 foot of chain link fence, about 10 saplings the size of softball bats, then the rear end rose up and stopped against a telephone pole nose of the car in the ground rear pointing to the sky. Fell out of the car and about 10 min. later the cops showed up sat with one to do the report and got let go. I was in TN so I had to go to court for it. Total cost $6.00 thats right six bucks. Now thats a state with the public's safety a heart. Just to give an idea of damage it took 2 tow trucks and a tractor to get the car off the pole. Insurance co. said I did 28,000 dollars of damage to a 18,000 dollar car it was an 01 convertible.

Haha, driving school. Here in MS, you get a ticket, you go to court, tell the judge you want to take driving school. They ask if you've ever taken it before, and you say no. They really have no idea unless you've been under this judge before b/c the only paper trail that you have taken the class is with the previous court you were under and there is no record of anything on your personal record. All we gotta pay is 35 bucks, go to one night of class, and we're done. It's more of a bragging thing in the class...see who got pulled over for what and how fast they were going. O yeh...I've gone twice

ours mainly talks about how drinking and driving is bad and is mainly about dwi and not speeding. it sucks. you are only supposed to take i once every 3 years but they never pay any attention to how many times you've taken it.

I had to take a drivers safety course today for point reduction and insurance reduction. The instructer was a state trooper. I tried to make friends, couldn't hurt to know one, but he was such a jerk. He said cops are exempt for just about everything from cell use while driving to speeding, not fair! It was soooo boring, but I sat behind a tall guy in the back corner and played games on my cell and text messaged people. I gotta say that if they offered a drivers course like you all have, I would probably be more willing to drive the way my car wants to!!!
