ok well i got some numbers on the eleanor scheme paint job.
theres 4 levels of paint i can go with
Level 1 - Special Enamel- starts at 299.95$
-Enamel over hand sanded existing paint(for adherence)
-does not sand out chips/dings.
-single stage(base+clear premix)
Level 2 - Supreme Mirathane- starts at $499.95
-machine sanded/feather edged as needed
-sands out 70% of nicks and chips and spot primed where necessary
-painted with enamel with polyurethane hardnerer, detailed to prevent
as much overspray as possible.
-single stage paint(paint/"better" hardner + UV protection/clear)
Level 3 - Urethane Acrylic- 699.95$
-Machine snaded/feather edged as needed for large nicks and scratches.
-sands out 90% of nicks/chips and spot primed where necessary
-painted with ULTRAthane Acrylic Urethane
-Single stage paint(urethane + acrylic paint + enhanced UV protectant/clear)
Level 4 - Premium OEM-Style 2 Stage Urethane - 1799.95$
-factory 2 stage
-sands down 99% of chips/nicks and remaining existing paint.
add ons
- $50 per door jamb
- $50 per hood jamb
- $100-250 per two tone
talking to the guy he says some of those above statements arent true all the time. they quoted me 1000 for the Level3 job, including jambs, labor and paint, which has to be custom ordered(they dont stock that dupont color, mainly cause its only use IS the eleanor scheme). he says this is the best for a daily driven vehicle, as the premium is harder to maintain, and is mostly for show vehicles(as he showed me their hot rod that they had painted, truly badass). its 400 to do the extra "GT" stripes as they called it. so basically ~1500 for the eleanor paint job.
if it was you guys, what paint level would you do and why?

level 4, single stage paints are nothing compared to 2 stage paints. And you HAVE to get hood jambs, door jambs, trunk jambs, and engine bay matched or it will look half-assed no matter how nice your paint job is.

Hm...def get the door jambs painted and such...and just remember this, when you get it painted, you'll have to look at that every day when you come outside, so be sure whatever you go with, you'll be happy seeing it every day.

well their last 67 fastback eleanor conversion was done in the level3 paint job and i remember seeing that when i picked up the tbird from them, and it was beautiful, which is where i got the idea for the modern eleanor.
btw, they repainted the front bumper and drivers fender their level1 black from when i got sideswiped in the tbird, the bumper/fender still look as good as the day i got it out and that was only 250$. now the rest of the car was painted by some place that was bought out and put under, that cost 1600$ and that paint is just faded to hell and back, clear has pit marks and is coming off, etc, no matter how much i try to buff/wax/polish/restore it, the feel is rough as hell, especially the hood. but bumper/fender is smooth as buttah. this is why i trust their workmanship, especially since that was done 3 years ago and aside from my sister pulling up too far and bending the bumper so it cracked the paint, still looks dam good.
and duh, of course im getting jambs and everything done. theyre not going to go that far down into the engine bay though, prolly tape it off as far in as they can go. i told him if i ever pulled the engine for whatever reason, id bring it back for them to spray the rest, but that doesnt bother me.
he also said NOT to install the kit, that he wants to paint the car and the kit seperate, so theres no reveal lines, and he can spray both the front and back of the kit pieces, so you dont look under from a certain direction and see yellow urethane. i asked him how much extra it is for him to install it, and he said if its direct bolt on and requires no modification(which ive test fitted most of it and its perfect) than he wouldnt charge anything. as long as they dont have to do any trimming/extending(like a ebay ricer kit would need).
btw, CL2 1/4 rear window panels were ordered yesterday. should be in 8-10 working days.

do it right or dont do it at all. Factory level paint job is trash for the most part anyway... i would expect to drop down 3 grand to get it done RIGHT. The factory job is rather sad... thin paint usually and orange peal...
