HELP!!! Wheel Size Question

I have looking for wheels to put on 97 V6 Mustang, and ran across a set on the internet. They are 18"x8.5 with a 38 Offset.......5x114.3...............What I am in quetion about is how will these wheels look on my car or would they even fit.....I dont want ot have to buy spacers or anything.....I am putting these rims on to replace my current 15" Triangle Wheels.........and I am going to use 225/40/18 tires on them also.............is this a good setup......the wheel i plan on using is either essenza ...........or maybe kuhmo.........I NEED HELP SOON ......

225 is a little thin but, it is 8.5, im not the best on offset and spacing questions though, sorry.gl, Matt

The 5x114.3 is right on, the same as a 5x4.5 which is what ford calls it. As far as backspacing...38mm may be a bit much, but I'm not sure. Factory wheels are around 26-28. As far as tire size, 225 is gonna be too narrow on those rims I'm afraid, it just won't look or handle right.

Well would it be better to go with a 235.........and what would it look like with a 38 mm offset.........do you think it would rub.......

I'd put at least a 245 on an 8.5 wide wheel. 255 or 265 would be better, unless you just for some reason like the look of narrow tires on a wide wheel. To give you some idea, Ford put 245s on the stock 8 wide Mustang wheels and 275s on a 9 wide. So, you'd want to stay somewhere in between those two numbers for an optimum fit.

Sorry, but I really can't help you on the offset. But from what I've seen most 9 wide wheels for the 94-04s use between a 24-26mm offset. So 38 sounds kind of excessive. This may mean they won't fit. Maybe someone else can be more help.
