How is the dipstick tube attached to the engine? Is it kind of like the fitting for the EGR off the header? The tube kind of slips through a nut and screws into a bung?
Reason I ask is mine popped out while putting by driverside header in. Anyone know anything about them?

The dipstick slides into a hole in the block and has a bracket that attaches uses #5 exhaust header/manifold bolts with nuts that keeps it in place.
Do you know what the end of it is supposed to look like? I have a feeling it snapped off in there, it doesn't look slideable as it is. My end is kind of bell shaped, guessing maybe it snapped off on the ridge so it doesnt slide to far in.
There should be maybe 4 to 6 inches from the end to the flared stop point on the stick. They are prone to breaking if they are shoved around a lot and then you have the broken piece in the block!!!
How do you think I could get that 4 to 6 inches of scrap metal out of there? Maybe a pair of needlenose pliers? Any idea how much a new dipstick tube costs? This sucks, everytime I solve a problem with this car 2 more pop up...
You could try needle nose but the gods honest truth is if there nothing sticking out to grab you will have to take the oil pan off. A dip stick is probably pretty cheap.
Good news, I was able to get at the piece after putting my car p on ramps in the front, Slid under there and worked it out real carefully with a flathead, then grabbed it and it came right out.
So glad I didn't have to drop that pan, that is a beeeyotch.
