I have an 03' GT Mustang that came with V-Force mufflers on it. Well I had the Cats cut off. It sounded like crap. So I replaced the V-force Mufflers with Flow Masters and guess what it still sounds aweful. How can I make it loud but sound good at the same time???
have your muffler guy weld in a few glasspacks where the rearward cats were, I've done this before..
also it depends which flowmasters you went with.. I had 3 chambers initially on my 89 and it sounded like shit with no cats.. so I went with dumps after the H pipe.. then eventually went to 40 series... sounded MUCH better with 40s than it did with the other ones (flowmasters will be very loud either way though)

What kind of sound are you looking for. I always kinda liked the catless flowmaster sound just a little too over done for me. Do you still have your crossover???
get an aftermarket midpipe instead. You will pick up a bit better flow with it and probably better sound.
the general rule is:
chambered mufflers with an H pipe
flow through mufflers with an X pipe
but I've heard nice combinations that broke those rules.
